Under appreciated movie. Everyone looked at it as a juvenile action flick full of mindless violence and hot chicks and it was so much more than that. It was a visual representation of the girls in that predatory establishment from the women point of view. no one could see it that way and it was a shame. Zack Snyder is a damn good story teller. Haven't been sad about any of his work.

This is one of my favorite movies. Well written. There is historical truth about this film because way back in the day psychiatry was very dark. Psychiatrist locked away individuals, who were or weren’t having mental health conditions and experimenting on them. Some of their patients were put in asylums to protect their status as doctors and professionals. Illegally, held against their own will, tortured and sexually abused. It is sad to think that these characters are reminders of actual individuals strapped to a bed, consistently contemplating their escape from the torture and abuse. This film puts together the frame of mind an individual conceptualizes when it is completely lost in the imagination is all the senses’ hope to believe in. This is why it’s very sad.

I disagree. This movie was nothing more than Zack Snyder showing off CGI at the time. The only real memorable person in the entire film was the main bad guy who ran the asylum. He performed being angry so well that I honestly felt threatened in the audience seat.

It failed my very basic concept of script writing & storytelling. It was all flash & no bang. The story could've been great had they concentrated on the asylum side of it rather than the jumbled hollow fantasy. Instead the fantasy robs reality of any gravitas.
