I actually had this exact situation and did get a lawyer to fight for a bonus I was owned.

Did you get your money?

If they actually did not pay the guy, word would get around. That’s the last time anyone would give them notice. So if for now the reason it’s extremely unlikely that this would happen.

Firing him was definitely a wrong decision

@SAAS1972N When you start a company and someone quits on you, you can let them hang around and download Files and delete stuff and do whatever you feel is appropriate for you. But to have the arrogance and audacity to tell other people how they should handle their business is disgusting.

@SAAS1972N Someone that has intention of downloading files or doing some damages can still do it before giving the 2 weeks notice

@jingogojoe Nothing wrong with removing them immediately. But you have to pay them out.

They left the part out where you get let go, get walked out the door, and then somebody calls you the following week asking you how to do your job. “Go pound sand” is the only appropriate response.

Only women are in H.R. now. Same attitude, but overweight, angry, women.

I have been called 4 times since quitting. Every time I deliberately give super wrong answers only.

Ask yourself this. Does the employer give you two weeks notice when they fire you? No, then don’t give them any notice either. Notice was a responsible thing to do but things have changed.

This is why people say nothing and quit that day

This almost never happens in Europe. The laws favor the employees significantly. In Germany I have a month notice if I want to quit but my employer has 3 months notice if they want to kick me out.

This has happened to me. Funny because the other employees told me to just ghost on the company if I ever wanted to leave, but i did the right thing, gave a 2 week notice and got fired.🤦

Happened to me once very real get an employment lawyer pay them 10% you will get ur 2 weeks pay

Happened to me lol Fired me after a gave my notice. Like right on the spot.

Take all remaining PTO and then send an email every 72 hrs communicating absence to manager. Once every PTO day is used quit....

Getting fired better than quitting in some cases Most major companies will pay you out. Severance, let you continue your health benefits till then as well

I’m confused why it would even cross his mind that he might not get paid for the two weeks. Severance pay from a big company when you’re fired without warning is usually a few MONTHS of salary.

A former employer did something similar to me. I was laid off, and they didn't pay me for the last two weeks even though I worked. After months of them ghosting me I hired a lawyer, he sent a demand letter, and I immediately got a payout of roughly 3x the amount the company owed me (lost wages, lawyer fees, etc). They know litigation will cost them so they will pay what they owe you, but you have to follow thru.

lol giving notice to quit is a favor and is not required. Nor is an employer required to put you on the schedule after you tell them you are quitting.

2 weeks notice is overrated. If the company does not have a policy of giving you two weeks notice prior to being laid off then you owe them nothing. Case by case scenario. If it’s a large corporation don’t bother with the two weeks because because in most cases you are going to get walked that day. I’ve also known people who have put in their two weeks for smaller companies and that company threw them a party on the last day

Corporations literally don’t care and you don’t owe them ANY favors. No matter what it is. They’ll do the dirtiest moves and dare you to sue. Don’t say anything until you’re ready to walk. You can’t be nice to these corporations. It’s counterproductive

Toooo close to home

Only a stupid company would do this. If someone’s working with sensitive info, most companies would just immediately relieve them of their duties and pay them for the two weeks. Those two weeks paid is a lot cheaper than a lawsuit

Most companies I've worked for walk you out that day. But always pay the two weeks.

for those without practical work experience, pretty much everyone in the real world knows this particular scenario does not happen.

If they want any departing employee to ever give them any notice again, they better pay out the notice period

Two weeks notice went out 20 years ago. Word got around they don’t honor that. Give them a letter of resignation Friday afternoon one hour before your shift ends. You already have your new job. Thank them for the employment & give yourself a week before you start the new job.

Depending on company business, a two week notice is standard professionally. However, most will let you go in lieu of working out notice. Unsure if they pay the 2 weeks. Always offer but be prepared that is your last day.

Always assume that you're going to get walked to the door after giving notice. That was our policy at several places I worked. Don't bother with the suit, it's not worth it.

I'm so glad I retired early. It's really not worth the BS.

Technically they can’t fire you after you give notice. That would be retaliation and you have to pay you the last two weeks. Even if they don’t want you there.

“This is an at will state not Canada” lol!😂

Banks and some government agencies do this as a matter of routine. When you announce that you are leaving, you become a security risk. It's appropriate to terminate immediately in those situations. So be prepared to leave immediately when you give notice.

It's expected the employee hands in their two weeks notice before quitting but yet a company can fire you without notice, do people not see the hypocrisy here? Even so, they can do this shit and get away with it

This is why you say “in two weeks you’re going to notice that I haven’t been here the past two weeks”.

This happened to my husband. At least here in CO they had to pay him and leave his benefits intact for the 2 weeks.

These are fantasy projections of what work is like for people who dont work. It's analogous to how the Fast and the Furious was a movie for people who dont drive.

bloomberg will walk you out the door if you give notice but they will pay you out for two weeks i’m pretty sure
