This evening, Metro Fire, Cosumnes Fire, and Sacramento Fire proudly deployed Strike Team 4801-C to the Palisades Fire in Southern California. 4801-C consists of 22 firefighters staffing five Type 1 engines, and one strike team vehicle. This deployment showcases the strength and resilience of the California Master Mutual Aid Agreement, and highlights the importance of emergency resource sharing statewide. Fire season is now year-round, and the ability to support the mission of saving lives and protecting property throughout our state has never been more critical. The #LineFire is 39,181 acres and 50% contained. Cooler temperatures over the area are bringing up moisture levels in the vegetation. There was minimal fire growth overnight. There have been multiple drone incursions over the Line Fire area. This has forced us to temporarily ground our aircraft which has impeded firefighting operations. Please help us share the message that flying drones in wildfire areas can have serious consequences. If you fly, we can't. 🚨🇺🇸 FAST-MOVING WILDFIRE NORTH OF LA FORCES EVACUATIONS Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for a wildfire that has already burned 500 acres near Castaic in Los Angeles County. The blaze, called the Hughes Fire, was first reported just before 11 a.m. near Lake Hughes Road and Castaic Lake, according to Cal Fire and Angeles National Forest officials. The fire is spreading quickly due to strong Santa Ana winds and extremely low humidity, with the area under a Red Flag Warning. Fred Fielding of the LA County Fire Department: “This time of year is especially dangerous. It’s been almost 300 days since we’ve had any significant rainfall.” This comes after devastating wildfires earlier this month left 28 people dead and destroyed homes, schools, and churches across Los Angeles County. HAPPENING NOW: A vehicle went over the steep cliff an estimated 400 to 500 feet down just south of Greyhound State Beach in Santa Cruz County, right off of Highway 1. CAL FIRE, Santa Cruz County Fire, San Mateo County Fire, CAL FIRE SCU, Santa Cruz City Fire, CHP-Santa Cruz, CA State Parks with lifeguards and AMR responded. Two CA State Parks Lifeguards swam from Greyhound State Beach down to the pocket beach where the vehicle was located, found one patient, and administered CPR. CAL FIRE SCU Alma Helitack Copter 614 lowered a hoist basket to the beach and pulled the patient to the highway to the awaiting ambulance. The patient is in critical condition. This is the Brewer Fire burning in Jefferson county, Oregon. 500+ acres, and she’s gone. The Kaiser Canyon Fire in Okanogan county, Washington is 1,000 acres. The Neff Jones Fire is 1,500 acres and the Lyons Ferry Fire is 3,000 acres in Franklin county, Washington and active. The Crosswhite Fire is 4,667 acres and the Cove Creek Fire is 1,000 acres, both in Wheeler county, Oregon. The Lower Dry Creek Fire in Umatilla county, Oregon is 5,000 acres. The Hopkins Fire is 5,000+ acres and the Porcupine Ridge Fire is 1,000 acres, both in Gilliam county, Oregon. The Wilcox Fire in Sherman county, Oregon is 2,500 acres. And those are just the fires over 1k acres…. There are dozens more.
