Sunday: Putin establishes a task force to stabilize fuel supplies in Russia. Monday: The Duma says fuel supplies won't stabilize, and Russians should get used to fuel restrictions. Seems like almost nobody in Russia believes what Putin is saying anymore, not even the Duma. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Unexpected problems have arisen: Putin’s Russia has once again authorized the production of low-quality gasoline and diesel to address fuel shortages. Fuel quality will now deteriorate, and the fuel will damage engines more quickly. If you smell donkey urine while refueling, dear Russians, rest assured: everything is going according to plan—Putin knows what he’s doing. That is the smell of the Motherland!

Putin: I want to stress it once again. The difficulties that are being created on the fuel market are unquestionably temporary and will not affect the general economic dynamics in Russia.

The fuel crisis is now bad enough that Russians are being told to give up and walk. Even with lower-quality fuel now allowed, fuel shortages have returned. As more and more cars break down, public anger at Putin will keep growing. The road to victory is lit with oil lamps.🔥

⛽️‼️ 🇷🇺Fuel shortages spread rapidly across Russia, with gas stations closing in Ingushetia and a coupon system introduced for fuel distribution. Gas station closures have begun in Ingushetia, and a coupon system has been activated for receiving fuel. At the moment, fuel restrictions are already in effect in 85 regions. In most regions, the sale of fuel in canisters is prohibited, and a filling limit is set for motor vehicles — from 20 to 40 liters of gasoline and up to 80 liters of diesel per vehicle. Fuel shortage in Russia affects more than 50 regions – The Bell. According to the report, the fuel crisis has now spread to 53 Russian regions as well as the occupied territories of Ukraine. In 18 regions, fuel sales are capped at a maximum of 50 liters per transaction. The situation is even more critical in the occupied territories. Shortages are also affecting a significant number of gas stations in another 11 regions, even though no official restrictions have yet been introduced there. Another report indicates that fuel sales restrictions are in place at one in four gas stations across the country. The cause is Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian refineries.

A useful accessory if one is a car driver in Russia this summer: binoculars (to see where the end of the fuel line is).

This week is the first time in 4.5 years that the “special military operation” is affecting the daily life of every resident of Russia. Once dubbed by McCain as a “gas station masquerading as a country,” Russia is experiencing a fuel crisis because of Ukrainian strikes on its refineries. To get gas, Russians now must spend hours — sometimes an entire night — waiting in line. Many gas stations just closed, including in Moscow. The more the Russian government says “don’t panic, there is no fuel shortage,” the more people panic.
