I said this in the comments section of a post recently & got sooooo much hate! People can be very prickly about facing up to reality. 🤷🏼♀️

I'm trying to source NON UV contacts and found out it's so hard in Australia If anyone knows how to get straight forward plain contact lenses please let me know

Wow Aaron! I hope you find some or someone who can help you locate them! I will keep my eyes & ears alert & let you know of any ideas!

@JaggerMickOZ Buddy has tan lines from wearing sunglasses 😎 lol 😝

@JaggerMickOZ Actually no, it is an old shadowy video before digital phones & cameras. He died in 2012 of suspected poisoning.

Grok: “The key hormone linked to melanin production is melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH), produced by the pituitary gland. UV exposure to the skin—not the eye—triggers MSH release, which tells melanocytes (pigment cells) to crank out more melanin, darkening the skin as a protective response (like a tan). The eye’s role is more about syncing the body’s overall response to light, not catalyzing MSH directly.”

This is insane. My family lines have very strong, genetic predisposition to macular degeneration. Even in my early 40s, my eye doctor was telling me that with that family history, I should be wearing sunglasses all the time outdoors because they now know that macular degeneration is the result of UV light damage to the retina over a lifetime.
