What led to the controversy? 3,702 eligible residents will be allotted rehabilitation houses with a carpet area of 1,600 square feet each, while 328 eligible commercial tenants will get houses with an area of 987 square feet. This despotic, inhuman regime has forced the general public into living like pariahs, just so that their Mitra can get what he wants! Have you ever heard of homes being sealed by eviction authorities while people including children are still inside? This is what has been happening over the past couple of days at Air India colony in Mumbai. I spent the better part of last night on the streets at Air India colony with several residents who have been locked out of their own homes. They have been given a highly unreasonable 48 hours to vacate the homes they have lived in for decades because Adani wants to usurp their land. Some of them have young children, some are senior citizens with several health issues and all of them have nowhere to go. What's worse is that the Mahayuti government has asked the police and other administrative personnel to let Adani's men do what they want and not help the citizens! Aren't we still living in a democracy? Do people have rights or not? This is outrageous and enraging behaviour on the part of this Adani Sarkar just to keep their Mitra happy. Mumbai must realise this is not just about Air India colony or Dharavi or some pockets of land. This is about our entire city and all our homes. If this can happen to Central government employees, it can happen to any of us. This regime will do anything to please their Mitra.
