Suspected forest fire arsonist arrested in Jefferson County Colorado two days ago for trying to start an intentional fire! Trust me when I say that is the last thing Colorado needs right now is another fire! It’s already a very dry hot summer with smoky conditions everywhere!

In a press conference minutes ago, authorities said the Aspen Acres Fire is now 7 miles from Wetmore, Colorado, and now a mandatory evacuation is in effect for the Wetmore area. From Pueblo county line, to Mackenzie Junction, to Fremont county to the North. For an idea of how far this fire has run, the original evacuation shelter was in Wetmore… People are NOT being allowed into the fire area. The plan to asses homes lost has been postponed today due to fire activity. This fire is likely well over 40,000 acres now. This evening, Central Washington Fire Information posted, “Strong, erratic winds created extremely dangerous fire conditions on Saturday. There is a new start this evening outside Ouray, Colorado, the Gold Mountain Fire. There is a mandatory evacuation for Peck’s Trailer Park, Panoramic Heights, Lake Lenore area, and the Red Stone Road area. This fire is moving uphill at a rapid rate, in very steep and difficult terrain. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of the fire.

This is WILD. Less than two months ago there was a fire RIGHT NEXT TO the empty reservoir in the Pacific Palisades. Talk about a warning. The fire was held to 1-2 acres because luckily there was almost no wind that day. Arson was suspected.

🔥ARSON ARREST: Police in Jefferson County, CO say a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of starting a brush fire near State Highway 74 on June 29th. Authorities say the suspect was spotted near the fire at the time of ignition and found a lighter near the origin point. An officer was able to quickly extinguish the flames until fire crews arrived. Idaho: Incredible work being done up on the Salmon Challis National Forest. They completed thousands of acres of prescribed fire this last week. You can see the vast amounts of dead standing fuels they are trying to mitigate. “Salmon-Challis National Forest staff successfully implemented 2,200 acres of prescribed fire, 13 miles east of Mackay, Idaho. This prescribed burn is part of the South Lost River Restoration Project. The purpose of this project is to improve forest health stand conditions and wildlife habitat by introducing fire back into a landscape that has missed historic fire return intervals. Missed fire intervals have led to declining forest stand health resulting from high tree densities and tight closed canopies. Using fire under prescribed conditions will result in canopy mortality and ground vegetation reduction that will improve stand health and wildlife habitat.
