synopsis post: recently i've been working on a rendering prototype. it's a Wolfenstein style fan raycaster. it has: displacement mapped walls terrain raycaster floors (entirely different tech, but texture matched). (angle constrained) real time shadows

if you appreciate work like this, please consider chipping in a few dollars a month or spreading the word! numbers have dipped recently (no shade at all to folks who've lowered their contributions- it's an incredibly difficult time for many people).

Looks like you might be rotating the ray a fixed angle between screen columns, causing walls to bulge when seen head on. ray directions should be generated like so:

Definitely the closest wolfenstein feeling in the modern era. Excellent basement vibe!

i did all the prototyping in js canvas2d. it's easy to work with and if it will work here, it will work anywhere haha
