Tata Sierra EV has set a benchmark in standard safety & features kit, battery packs, build and practicality as a package. But couple of variants in 15-18L segment would have made customers go bonkers. Looks like Tata has a monthly production limitation of making 10-12K Sierra’s and trying to...

Tata Sierra’s Launch Should Be Tata’s Tiago Moment in C2 & D segment. The Tata Sierra launch should be the Tiago moment for Tata, which helped them crack the code and later paved the way for the Nexon and Punch. With fine pricing and positioning, they grabbed a lion’s share from Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. With the Sierra, the inspiration should come from the Mahindra XUV700, how Mahindra priced it so aggressively upfront and rattled the competitors. With 1.5 GDi Turbo, Diesel, and EV, as a customer, I understand that pricing it too aggressively might not be feasible, but they can definitely try to sell the first 30,000 units without profit to shake the competition in the C2 & D segments (Creta and XUV700 segments). The car looked great in person with that ‘I WANT THAT’ factor. Panel gaps, exterior quality, fully covered inner wheel arches, and uniform rubber beading gave the car a polished and precise look. Thankfully, Tata didn’t go overboard with the design, making it overly futuristic. Instead, they kept it old school in multiple areas with a blend of modern touches. In white and silver color, this car will definitely look great! The rear looks slightly chopped off to maximize boot space and interior room, unlike the older Sierra, where the rear bumper protruded. But despite that, it still manages to look good overall, as seen in the video. The famous signature rear window curve is smartly designed to give the new Sierra its classic identity. I am least concerned about how many screens it will have, but I hope the final interiors retain that blend of old-school design elements. Features, comfort, build quality, and practicality remain Tata’s core strengths, and I am sure the Sierra will deliver on all these fronts once launched. Lastly, this was the only truly worthy car at Auto Expo this year.

Skoda Kylaq quick observations ✅ Fine styling, reminds you of Kushaq in a good way. No quirky elements. ✅ Smart design bits like broader & blackened front grille to make it look wide, clean C pillar quarter glass area unlike Kushaq where it is blackened with plastic. ✅ Interior quality feels solidly put together, layout looks practical and overall the cabin looks classy for 4 passengers. ✅17 inches alloy wheel enhance the looks and fresh alloy design looks very upmarket in person. ✅ Practical safety and convenience kit on offer in the variant that was displayed. 6 airbags & 25 other safety features as standard and features like wireless connectivity, digital cockpit, electric sunroof, two ways steering adjustment, ventilated seats, auto dimming IRVM, electric adjustable seats, 60:40 split rear seat, 446 litres of boot space makes it a desirable package. ✅ 1.0 TSI with 178 nm torque in MT and AT makes it a worthy package for customers looking for performance. (I own Skoda Slavia AT 1.0 but yet to drive Kylaq). Car is priced 30% lesser as compared to other GDi Turbo cars in the segment. ✅ As expected, build, panel gaps, inner wheel cladding, paint, interior fit & finish, boot carpet/cloth material, felt near perfect while doing a quick 10 minutes walkaround. ⚠️ Competition is already offering Panoramic sunroof, 4 disc brakes, 360 degrees camera and ADAS too. Customers looking for such features might need to rethink. ⚠️ As per our community feedback from 3 lakh impressions, the rear design is getting polarised opinions. ⚠️ With a Turbo only on offer for now, it targets a thin set of customers. Under 4m segment cars already have a diesel, ev and CNG offerings too. ⚠️ Skoda missed a trick by not talking about ownership cost with service packs & extended warranty upto 6 years in the presentation. With hype around, it was a golden opportunity to address doubts of first time buyers. ⚠️ Rear wiper looks cheap. 5th passenger will be a squeeze but there are 3 headrests. Overall, a great effort from Skoda and it shows that want sales numbers to improve by catering to the different set of customers with a wider portfolio. Overall the vibe was positive and the product looks desirable.

** Opinion on Tata Altroz 2025 ** With 1.2 MT Petrol, 1.2 CNG, AMT and Automatic DCA and Diesel MT 1.5, Tata Altroz tries to cover a large band of customers especially young & newly married families with kids. It offers safety, build, 6 airbags as standard, excellent quality feel, paint, high speed stability, good brakes & handling, convenience features as a package and variants are well priced if you look at it closely. ⛽️ Diesel should be preferred by someone who isn’t ready to compromise on torque and has a running of above 1500 km per month. ⛽️ CNG MT if your city run is too much but you want to avoid Diesel but still want fuel economy. A no nonsense choice for sedate driving style. Twin cylinder layout doesn’t eat up all boot space and still provides 200+ litres of boot-space. ⛽️ 1.2 AMT Petrol for city runs if your budget is less but you need a safe car with no clutch hassle. If budget is more, DCA AT for smoother shifting but again for sedate driving. Reliable and does the job alright. ✅ Six airbags has given this car a big advantage now because looks, features, solid feel, dynamics & safety certificate was already in its favour. Kit has modern features like 360 deg camera, blind spot monitoring, auto led headlights, cornering/fog lamps, rain sensing wipers, harman kardon music system, digital cockpit with map support, light in glovebox & boot, rear ac vents, sunroof, adjustable arm rest and the front & back, wireless charging pad, 65w c-type charger sockets, isofix mounts, cruise control… ⚠️ Shortcomings are, turbo petrol isn’t provided as of now, ventilated seats are gone, you need to be disciplined to maintain light coloured seats, steering can’t be adjusted for reach, no middle headrest, tyre size in top variant could have been 195 mm, latest steering somehow lacks vibe of 3 spoke steering, rear seats should have load sensors for the seatbelts…
