🚨 LVMPD Arrests Violent Crime Suspect After High-Speed Pursuit 🚨 Earlier this morning, a murder occurred in North Las Vegas. Just 30 minutes later, LVMPD officers responded to a crash near Spring Mountain and I-15. While investigating that crash, officers were approached by a citizen who reported they had just been carjacked. 🚔 Compassion in Action! GOOD TICKET AWARD! What started as a routine response to a minor car accident became a powerful moment of empathy and humanity. Recently, a woman suffered a medical episode while driving and was involved in a minor crash. As she was transported to the hospital, LVMPD SEAC Officer Austin Shupe began preparing her vehicle for towing—until he opened the trunk and saw hundreds of dollars’ worth of groceries, including frozen food. Not wanting the food to spoil, Officer Shupe and Officer Jacob Bowden took extra steps. Officer Bowden went to the woman’s home, spoke with her boyfriend, and earned his trust. He returned to the scene, picked up the car and groceries—thanking officers for their compassion and caring. The woman involved in the indicdent, later wrote to thank our officers for their kindness and thoughtfulness. For going above and beyond, Officers Shupe and Bowden were awarded a Good Ticket through Resorts World Las Vegas, who generously provided a staycation package as a thank-you. This was made possible by the LVMPD Foundation. 👏 Congratulations to these officers for serving with humanity and compassion.

What started as a FLOCK alert for a stolen vehicle quickly turned into a coordinated response by Officers on the ground. After locating the vehicle and confirming it was stolen, one of our officers attempted a traffic stop. The suspect chose to flee. Rather than initiate a pursuit, the officers deployed a GPS tracking device and monitored the vehicle from a safe distance. A short time later, the vehicle came to a stop in a nearby neighborhood. Officers moved in and located the suspect nearby. He attempted to run but was quickly taken into custody. During the arrest, Officers recovered a firearm from the suspect’s backpack, along with marijuana. The suspect showed signs of impairment, and a warrant for a blood draw was obtained. This is what it looks like when training, technology, and teamwork come together. A dangerous situation brought under control without the need for a pursuit, reducing risk for everyone involved.

When officers arrived, they found a juvenile hanging from the guardrail and were able to safely pull her back to safety. Thank you to the community members who reported this critical situation, and to the dispatchers and officers whose quick response helped prevent a tragedy.

Our officers quickly surrounded the area and deployed a drone to search from above. The drone operator soon spotted someone hiding under heavy construction equipment. With a coordinated plan in place, a team of officers, along with one of our K9s, moved in and took the suspect safely into custody. Further investigation revealed stolen tools from a Lenexa business, along with meth and drug paraphernalia. This same individual had been arrested by Lenexa officers earlier this year in connection with another business burglary. The Johnson County District Attorney's Office has charged this suspect with crimes related to both cases. To anyone thinking about committing crimes in Lenexa: our officers have the tools, training, and technology...and we will find you.

On June 22, at approximately 11:50 a.m., officers responded to a shoplifting call at Target in Redmond after a man was reported removing security tags and concealing merchandise in a stolen backpack. As soon as the 911 call came in, a Drone as First Responder (DFR) was launched and arrived on scene before officers on the ground. The DFR pilot quickly located the suspect leaving the store and maintained visuals as he fled to a nearby hotel, then boarded a bus at the park-and-ride. Throughout the incident, the drone provided real-time updates that helped responding officers locate the suspect and coordinate a safe apprehension. Officers coordinated with the bus driver and safely detained the suspect. The suspect reportedly stole approximately $330 in merchandise. As soon as the 911 call came in, a Drone as First Responder (DFR) was launched and arrived on scene before officers on the ground. The DFR pilot quickly located the suspect leaving the store and maintained visuals as he fled to a nearby hotel, then boarded a bus at the park-and-ride. Throughout the incident, the drone provided real-time updates that helped responding officers locate the suspect and coordinate a safe apprehension. Officers coordinated with the bus driver and safely detained the suspect. The suspect reportedly stole approximately $330 in merchandise. Stolen Guitar Recovered, Suspect Arrested Following Foot Pursuit On June 1 at approximately p.m., officers were dispatched to a reported theft in progress at 1611 Redmond Way, Redmond. A store employee reported that a suspect entered the store, stole a guitar valued at approximately $880, and fled the area on foot toward the nearby light rail station. Officers quickly located the suspect aboard a train and recovered the stolen guitar onboard. The suspect then fled from the train onto the light rail tracks and jumped an estimated 15 feet from the top of the downtown light rail station to a roof below in an attempt to evade officers. Officers established a coordinated perimeter with transit security and safely contained the area. The suspect was ultimately located and taken into custody without further incident. The stolen guitar was recovered and returned to the business. The store employee positively identified the suspect, who was taken into custody on theft and obstruction charges.
