Tesla is taking over Austin, TX. Their presence is all over. Model Y Robotaxis are in much bigger numbers now, a massive step forward from last year when I was here, and Cybercabs make Austin look so futuristic. Austin is Robotaxi heaven. Tesla is flooding it with robots.

Tesla now has 72 robotaxi in Austin. This is twice as much as 2 weeks ago and 22 were added in the last 3 days. There are 232 cars in Austin and the Bay Area. Only 137 different license plates for Waymos have been seen in Austin. Tesla can pass Waymo in number of cars in Austin. Tesla has registered 1655 cars in the Bay Area. Tesla can add those cars and they have over 700 registered drivers if they wanted to to deploy cars with safety drivers. Tesla has over 50,000 miles of driving needed for safety submission in California. 1500+ in SF Bay Area and 500+ is possible for Tesla robotaxi in February or March. Elon Musk Jo Bhakdi

Tesla FSD V15 is going to be a huge update. Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s VP of AI, says V15 is bringing earlier hazard prediction, quicker reactions, and significantly better safety. After experiencing V15 in Austin on the Robotaxi fleet, I have zero complaints. I had 21 flawless rides with Cybercabs and Model Ys. They were the best self-driving experiences I’ve ever had. So comfortable. It was a mega improvement compared to 10 months ago when I was in Austin.

Cybercab pricing in Austin is already getting interesting too, with some rides coming in cheaper than Model Y Robotaxis and well below Uber. But it wasn’t all good news. An NHTSA audit around Cybercab certification helped knock $TSLA down about 6%. Meanwhile, Slovenia approved FSD, Europe has a bigger vote coming Oct. 6, Tesla is pushing quarter-end incentives in China, and there are fresh Optimus supply-chain rumors floating around. Friday the 13th isn’t scary, its a day to celebrate that the future is autonomous, certainly here at Giga Texas with 30+ Cybercabs all lined up, and one in a display case. There is a Tesla Pop-up event going on today and tomorrow in downtown Austin at Fareground Austin and you can see Cybercabs up close and personal yourself if you are in town! Go check it out!

As you can see, it’s now filled only with red and black Model Y Robotaxis and Cybercabs. Looks like Tesla is turning the entire lot into a dedicated Robotaxi operation hub. $TSLA Tesla Robotaxi

As expected, Tesla’s Model Y ride-hailing service in the Bay Area currently has a safety driver in the driver’s seat, which is why Tesla is calling it a ride-hailing service rather than a Robotaxi service. It is still a paid service though and is likely using the same software as the Austin Robotaxis. Once Tesla receives the required permit, they will remove the safety driver and instead have a safety monitor in the passenger seat like they do in Austin. That could happen within the next 1–2 months, according to Elon.

Highlights: • Tesla is open to opening more robotaxi mission control centers (beyond the two they already have in Austin and the Bay Area) as their fleet expands. • Tesla has partnered with a Texas-based law enforcement to make a 5-minute step-by-step instructional video for first responders so they are prepared for emergencies with autonomous cars. • Tesla would be "extremely happy" if they will have deployed ~2,500 robotaxis in Nevada by this time next year.
