After waiting over an hour for a ride Tesla Tesla Robotaxi support tells me to go home.. 😣😭 They said that they don’t show any Robotaxis in Dallas. The rep went to get confirmation and they said they see the post from Ashok Elluswamy and Robotaxi but can confirm there is nothing showing in Dallas on their side…..go home. Robotaxi is not live in Dallas. Who do I believe? What do I do? Here’s the call …. This stuff is why people get frustrated with Tesla

Tesla Tesla Robotaxi ride two with my nephew. The car struggled to find a place to drop us and just kept circling. Support or the car changed the drop-off location. Circled again, then support got on the line with the car. Then it went for a tight parallel park and almost had it. Backed in, straightened out, then decided no and pulled out of the spot entirely. Support was eventually able to stop the car curbside and we got out.

Interesting edge case with Tesla Robotaxi today. As Ellie in Space 🚀💫 and I were arriving at our drop off, a thunderstorm was nearby and support contacted us to say the service needed to pause until the storm passed. Problem was we were in an open park with no cover. We had to end the ride, get out and then resume on the car. Problem was we got a high demand please try again message on the app. The support had to reset the system to allow us to by pass the high demand and then we immediately got another Robotaxi before the rain hit. This is due to the early stage of Robotaxi and the level of caution Tesla is using at the moment.

Super excited to be the very first rider in our Robotaxi internal trial. Ordered it right outside our office building — hailed, got in, sat down, and off we went. This marks the first time we've fully connected the online booking and offline riding experience. Sitting in that car, I couldn't help but feel a bit emotional. We announced the Robotaxi plan last November, kicked off public-road testing this January, rolled out production vehicles in May, and now, just eight months later, we've run the whole loop and started internal trials. That's faster than we ever expected. Huge thanks to everyone on the Robotaxi team who made this happen. True large-scale deployment of Robotaxis is a long journey. Next, we'll keep doubling down on safety, fine-tune the experience, and improve generalization, steady steps all the way. I'm really looking forward to the day when our internal users, locals in Guangzhou, and travelers visiting the city can all pull out their phones, hail a XPENG Robotaxi, and hop in for a ride. And for this first taste of Robotaxi? I give it a solid 10/10!

The “Market Researcher” then goes on and says “This is nothing at all like Tesla is doing, Tesla is relying on entirely on cameras, which is a fundamentally flawed approach to doing a Robotaxi.” The car looks absolutely hideous with all its LiDAR sensors. Plus, even if it goes hit the market, it’s going to be way to expensive to even compete with Tesla. You’ll be able to get a Cybercab for the fraction of the price. Fox News discredited Tesla big time in this segment.

After giving Tesla Robotaxi rides to Joseph and Alice Keating, they tried out a few Waymo rides to compare. Here are a few of their observations: “We decided to try a Waymo while we were there as well. We were able to take two trips. The first ride wasn’t bad, pretty similar to robotaxi. The second ride almost hit a pedestrian in one instance and parked cars while making a left turn on a neighborhood street. It had to slam on the breaks both times. Also it took a left turn through a yellow light at the last second before red. During our conversation we talked about whether you could get into the driver seat of Waymo. I took this video walking around the car. It shows that door handle recessed vs the others are popped out, so no way to get in. While we enjoyed both services, we thought the robotaxi was a smoother more confident ride. Robotaxi does need some improvements but we know they will come in due time.” This is a great review & comparison and I hope you found this helpful!

He's probably the one person who's done the deepest public dives on Tesla FSD and Tesla AI over the years. In fact, over the past 4 years I've published 40+ videos (!) with James Douma on Tesla AI/FSD (they are all on a playlist on my YouTube channel). I first discovered James Douma a long time ago (maybe almost 8-10 years ago?) on a web forum called . Back then it was one of the only places for early Tesla owners and TSLA investors to discuss issues deeply. While I posted about investing topics, James posted about Tesla Autopilot and its hardware but in a way that was more thorough than anybody else. When I started posting YouTube videos years later, I invited him on my channel to hear his thoughts on Tesla Autopilot/FSD. It was a riveting discussion and I was surprised at how much I could learn from him. I invited him again for another interview on my channel, and once again I was floored by how much I was learning. So over the years, James has been a great resource for me (and many others) to keep pulse on what Tesla is doing with FSD and AI (and even robotics). He doesn't have his own YouTube channel. He doesn't have any paid services or subscriptions. He probably has mixed feelings about so many people knowing about him. 1 Year Anniversary of Tesla Tesla Robotaxi Launch ... Reliving that 1st day! One year ago a small group or people including me received an invitation from Tesla_AI to be among the first to participate in the launch of the Tesla Robotaxi service. The launch took place in Austin Texas on 22 June 2025 and was punctuated by a lot of excitement, some uncertainty or what to expect, waiting for the app to download and then hailing the first ride as the small group of participants faced out in the initial service area and waited for their Robotaxi to arrive! For this initial launch, Tesla used Model Y's with the "Robotaxi" logos on the doors and rear hatch and had supervisors in the passenger seat but the cars all drove autonomously and did exceptionally well. We had all kinds of media trailing behind trying to get images, interviews or any information about our experiences, and this made for a surreal day, almost like paparazzi chasing after high-profile celebrities. Over the next year, the Robotaxi service would slowly scale to new cities, initially Austin and the San Fransisco areas, and then later to Houston and Dallas while preparations for several more cities were underway. The fleet did scale up but slowly, going through several revisions and updates of the autonomous software, becoming fully unsupervised and the fleet management aspects of the Robotaxi service were further developed. Regulatory permits and filings also took place to position the Robotaxi service for what we all hope will be large-scale expansion including the addition of the new Cybercabs, which are now in limited production and are testing multiple locations around the US. What will year 2 be like for Robotaxi? All indications are a very big year, but ultimately, Tesla needs to demonstrate they can execute on their plans, preparations and Cybercab production. I'm very hopeful they will be able to do so starting very soon! The launch took place in Austin Texas on 22 June 2025 and was punctuated by a lot of excitement, some uncertainty or what to expect, waiting for the app to download and then hailing the first ride as the small group of participants faced out in the initial service area and waited for their Robotaxi to arrive! For this initial launch, Tesla used Model Y's with the "Robotaxi" logos on the doors and rear hatch and had supervisors in the passenger seat but the cars all drove autonomously and did exceptionally well. We had all kinds of media trailing behind trying to get images, interviews or any information about our experiences, and this made for a surreal day, almost like paparazzi chasing after high-profile celebrities. Over the next year, the Robotaxi service would slowly scale to new cities, initially Austin and the San Fransisco areas, and then later to Houston and Dallas while preparations for several more cities were underway. The fleet did scale up but slowly, going through several revisions and updates of the autonomous software, becoming fully unsupervised and the fleet management aspects of the Robotaxi service were further developed. Regulatory permits and filings also took place to position the Robotaxi service for what we all hope will be large-scale expansion including the addition of the new Cybercabs, which are now in limited production and are testing multiple locations around the US. What will year 2 be like for Robotaxi? All indications are a very big year, but ultimately, Tesla needs to demonstrate they can execute on their plans, preparations and Cybercab production.
