And it's actually a combination. It's like Airbnb and Uber, to some degree. So, there'll be some cars that Tesla owns itself. It's kind of like an Uber fashion. But then, for the fleet, that is owned by our customers, it will be like an Airbnb thing. You can add or subtract your car to the fleet whenever you want. So you can say, I'm going away for a week. Just one tap on your Tesla app, your car gets added to the fleet, and it just makes money for you while you're gone. So you can add it to the fleet for a few hours, for a few days, for a few weeks. And no one is even close to Tesla for solving generalized autonomy or generalized self-driving vehicles. No one's even close. With self-driving, the car becomes roughly five times more useful, but it costs the same to build. Can you imagine what would happen if a company were doing a 25% to 30% percent gross margins, but suddenly that same thing was five times more valuable. What would that do to the value of Tesla ? And the value of that car? It boggles the mind, actually. If you actually do the math on that, it's insane. There's also the Optimus program, which is our humanoid robot, where we will leverage our manufacturing expertise and the intelligence we've developed for self-driving to have a useful humanoid robot. A common thing I hear when speaking with gas car owners is that the idea of owning a Tesla is too complicated and not worth the trouble. They often cite not knowing where chargers are, and not wanting to deal with the headache of figuring it out. They also believe there aren’t enough chargers to satisfy their travel needs. This is a myth, and the opposite of true for almost everyone. The truth is that Tesla ownership is actually easier than gas car ownership for travel, and in general. There is far less thinking involved. Tesla’s technology is leveraged to make transportation difficulty fade into the background. Literally all you have to do is get in, tell it where to go, and press a button. Quite literally don’t even have to drive, let alone think about where chargers are. Here I am outside of Philadelphia randomly at 50% battery, asking the car to take me to Myrtle Beach down in South Carolina. After this clip, all you have to do is sit there, listen to podcast/music, eat snacks, and take in scenery. Pretty soon you’ll be able to watch movies and TV too. That’s it, that’s the entire travel “planning” process. You don’t have to do it, the software does it. And after your first road trip using FSD 14.2 instead of driving yourself, the energy you will have at your destination will be impossible to ignore. You will realize the luxury of self driving far exceeds the extra 45-60 mins of charging required along a long route like this. You will realize the trip psychologically felt way quicker, because you didn’t have to be tensed up and locked in the entire time. It’s game changing. This is why Tesla is a leader in customer retention. Once you take the plunge, you realize the truth is opposite what you thought before going for it, and you can’t imagine going back.

Today, CNBC released a new video with Consumer Reports comparing driver-assist systems. But there's a problem… in the video, they used Tesla's Autopilot, not Tesla's FSD (Supervised), and compared that to the top offerings in other automakers' cars. CNBC also claimed that Tesla lacked an effective driver monitoring camera, but Tesla does have one—so much so that some Tesla owners complain about its sensitivity. Camera based driver attention monitoring is less strict for Autopilot than it is for FSD (Supervised). Not once in the video did they test the latest version of Tesla's FSD. Consumer Reports says Ford and GM have the best driver assist systems. The Mercedes system they praise in the video is extremely limited and can only work on highways. Tesla's FSD (Supervised) will work on virtually any road in the US/Canada.

So here is something slow and contemplative to fit the shorter days and colder temperatures. This is Brendel playing the opening couple minutes from Schubert’s piano sonata in A Major - the Andantino, second movement, which itself is in F Sharp Minor, marking a dramatic shift in mood from the opening movement. It’s easy to follow as it’s in ternary form ABA - some opening music (what you hear in this clip) followed by some contrasting music, and a return to the primary theme. The entire sonata is well worth listening to, and contains lots of music which doesn’t have a tragic sensibility like this. Link to entire sonata in next post. As an aside - if you’ve ever seen Haneke’s film The Piano Teacher, this music features prominently in it. Isabelle Huppert is very good in what is IMO an uneven but interesting work. But it isn’t for the faint of heart. Nothing of Haneke is for the faint of heart.
