AUTO LANE CHANGE ISSUES CONTINUE W/ FSD V14.2.1.25 Starting with FSD v14.2, there has been a significant regression in the system's confidence when performing automatic lane changes. If a vehicle is following in the adjacent lane at a safe distance and consistent speed, the ego car will often activate the turn signal and begin crossing the lane line before suddenly aborting the maneuver, pausing briefly, and then either proceeding with the lane change or abandoning it entirely. This behavior appeared in v14.2.1 and unfortunately persists in v14.2.1.25. While it is not a safety issue per se, it is definitely one that needs to be addressed, as it causes confusion and frustration for all surrounding drivers on the road when it occurs. A recurring frustration with FSD 14.3.3 It still doesn’t remember previous behavior on roads I drive every day. In both of these clips, the car unnecessarily jumps into the left lane (Hurry mode) despite clear reasons not to: • Video 1: The lane is ending and blocked by construction barrels. • Video 2: The left lane is becoming a left-turn only. I've been using FSD in my Tesla Model X for nearly a year. Here's the Good, the Bad and the Ugly on Tesla's FSD... The Good: - FSD is bar far, the most advanced driving technology I've ever experienced in any vehicle. - I use it every day, on every drive. Why? Because it reduces my driving work substantially. It keeps the car centered in the lane, keeps an appropriate following distance, stops for red lights and stop signs, turns where I need to turn and handles 99% of my driving tasks. - I think driving with FSD is FAR safer than driving without it because it reduces the "dumb" mistakes that drivers make that cause accidents. Mistakes like being distracted and missing the fact that the light is turning red or that the car in front of you just hit the breaks, or swerving out of your lane, or forgetting an exit or a turn and trying to make a heroic move to stay on course. All of these things are handled by FSD with grace and it likely is saving countless accidents. - Long drives and road trips are a pleasure with FSD because you are not fatigued with the many thousands of micro driving tasks, such as keeping the car centered in the lane or even worrying about where you're going. The car does all of that for you (and Navigate on Autopilot also does 95% of this for road trips). - When I use FSD, I have near-0 road rage, never speed up rapidly for no good reason and I am generally a more relaxed driver. The Bad: - Sometimes FSD has Schizophrenia, sees things that aren't there, slows for no reason, is indecisive on whether to go or stop which causes it to do extreme movements of the steering wheel, breaks and accelerator. In most of these circumstances, it's not unsafe, but as the driver sitting in the driver's seat, it is quite embarrassing, especially if you have passengers in the vehicle. - There are times when FSD makes a truly unsafe mistake, misses a red light (super rare) and tries to go when it should clearly stop, or slams on the break because it thinks a car might cross paths when the car was clearly not going to. In all these instances, it's super easy to take over and correct FSD's mistake. I don't even think twice about it...I quickly take over, correct the mistake, and put it back on FSD. The Ugly: - FSD is nearly useless in parking lots. It is surprisingly bad, especially since Elon Musk introduced the "Summon" feature long before FSD was released publicly. He said "just like humans, the AI also needs to learn driving by starting in the parking lot." 5 Years later, Summon still sucks and FSD has no idea how to drive in a parking lot. - Despite the many praises that a specific release often gets on Twitter, my personal experience has been that a new release could actually be worse than the previous version. For example, when my FSD upgraded from 10.69 to 11.3, it lost its ability to get in & out of HOV lanes on the freeway (I live in Scottsdale AZ). This simple loss of functionality (which returned with 11.4) caused numerous missed exits and route delays due to my over-reliance on FSD. - FSD makes some incredibly bad choices that are unexplainable, like certain lane changes, or last-second preparation to try and make a turn from 3 lanes away. These mistakes get better and worse with each release...it's a mixed bag as to what you're going to get with an update. - Your car's FSD never ever learns or improves by user input (not without an update). So it will make the exact same mistake in the exact same location, every, single, time. That can be super annoying. Conclusion: Despite the shortcomings, FSD is a technology marvel that I prefer not to live without. I don't see myself having a primary car that doesn't have Tesla-level FSD capabilities anytime in the future. Even the basic Autopilot features of Tesla are far superior to any other vehicle I've experienced. And despite what Elon says, the rate of improvement that I have experienced in the past year will not put it on a trajectory to be ready without a backup driver anytime in the next year or two. But with a backup driver, FSD is incredible, makes driving safer and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

FSD supervised in Europe: Another great video of our drive with FSD supervised in Dusseldorf, Germany yesterday. Here you can clearly see how the Tesla Model 3 stays fully in control in a busy area again. Passing two parked vehicles in the street (on our lane), seeing the second vehicle even before me, reacting to a fast biker that suddenly comes from the right side, and smoothly driving over tramrails on the left lane with no markings on the street at all. FSD is so needed in Europe, it will not only make our lives safer but also so much more relaxed. What a pleasure it was to be in this car, even when we were not driving (yet). FSD v14.1 yields to an ambulance using the opposite lane to bypass traffic After hearing and seeing the ambulance behind me, FSD began creeping into the adjacent right lane, but another vehicle blocked me from moving farther. FSD then paused, allowing the ambulance to pass, before continuing. I’m not sure a human driver could’ve handled this much differently — there was nowhere to go short of flooring it to get in front of the car to my right, which in my view would have felt reckless in case the ambulance needed to get into that gap. Simply creeping a bit to the right, pausing and waiting, knowing the ambulance had already committed to driving against the flow of traffic, seems like the safest move. Either way, this is a significant improvement over prior versions! Your thoughts?

Why is it always an HR-number car? 🤦‍♂️ Everyone was driving in a single lane in Uttarakhand when an HR-number car overtook everyone from the wrong side and then blocked the truck’s way. When the truck driver asked him to move back, he started arguing. Then, Instead of moving back, he forced his way into the lane, blocking everyone and causing a traffic jam 😳

I think as always it’s fair to talk about the good and the bad with each new version of FSD that comes out. It feels like FSD V14.2.2.4 is still struggling with speed control. I spent the majority of my drive tonight in standard and I found that on most straight stretches of road the car was going under the speed limit by a considerable amount (15kmh at times) Here’s a raw clip of the car driving between 60-67 kmh in a 70kmh zone with zero cars around it to slow it down. The road is well lit with traffic lights, so I don’t really see any reason at all to be driving this way. Let me know what you all think.

This traffic circle has been a long-standing pain point for me on FSD. As you can see, the car consistently drives in the bike lane here. I’ve documented this behavior before on FSD 12, 13, and now 14. The issue appears to stem from outdated map data. This section of the circle used to function as a two-way roadway. At the time, there was no bike lane and vehicles traveled in the space FSD still prefers today. Since the redesign, that area is now a dedicated bike lane, but FSD doesn’t reliably recognize the change. Depending on the version, it will occasionally handle this correctly, but most of the time it does not. This is currently the only issue I consistently experience with FSD. It’s not safety critical. The car will move if a cyclist, vehicle, or object is present, but reliance on outdated map data in locations like this needs to improve.

FSD v14 lite drove me 40 minutes to Westlake Village with zero interventions needed. Hurry mode on the highway is excellent at speed control, lane logic/decisions, smooth lane changes and moving around slower cars. At the destination, my car parked in the first and only available spot which unfortunately was a curbside pickup spot so switched it after. Highway performance is incredible on v14 lite, really happy with it.

We are seeing lots of examples of FSD doing really well in the Netherlands, and that’s great. But from my own and my friends’ experience, I know that despite it doing great most of the time, it makes mistakes every now and then. I’d love for these to be shared too so we get a realistic view of EU FSD. Out of the 4 instances I experienced, I was only recording during one - and it was the most serious. The car turned left onto Wibautstraat, a big through-traffic street in Adam East. It then did something really weird: in the flow of traffic after a green light, it suddenly stopped in the middle of a crossing on the right side of the right lane (but blocking traffic from behind), despite the navigation directing it to continue on Wibautstraat. 🤷‍♂️

Yesterday I drove to Cologne. Since FSD is still unavailable in Germany, I had to rely on Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) for the entire trip. Honestly, it was a disappointing experience. EAP makes frequent steering corrections, changes lanes poorly, and feels far less predictable and confidence-inspiring. On roads with unclear lane markings, it constantly wanders left and right, which doesn’t feel safe. After driving over 10,000 km with FSD, the difference is impossible to ignore. FSD drives much more naturally, stays smoother in its lane, and anticipates traffic far better. FSD needs to come to all of Europe as soon as possible. The difference in both comfort and safety is huge.

It seems that Republicans are trying to gaslight everyone into believing that Dayanne Figueroa rammed into an ICE agent’s car… So let’s break down the video, frame by frame. 1. This is Chicago… a dense, urban area with traffic in every direction. 2. The street is two-way… you can clearly see another car driving toward the camera. 3. The ICE agent, in an unmarked vehicle, is sitting in the road. 4. They then make a very wide turn… onto the left side of the road. 5. At this point, the agent is driving on the wrong side of the road. 6. The ICE agent, seemingly unaware of their surroundings (never ideal while driving in a major city), tries to enter the correct lane… without signaling, and without checking to see if someone’s already in that lane. 7. And it turns out, someone was already in that lane… Note: A federal agent, in an unmarked vehicle, does not have the right of way unless they have their 🚨 on. The ICE agent did NOT have their 🚨 on. 8. So, the ICE agent made an improper and unsafe lane change and hit Dayanne Figueroa’s car. 9.
