Dan Lanning shares why Oregon players write down what they did well and what they need to improve before the staff coaches them up. “Self-awareness is something I'm really big on. If you can identify a problem within yourself before a coach tells you…then you have a better chance of solving that problem.” Players don’t learn from experience. They learn from reflecting on experience. Reflection creates ownership. Ownership drives improvement. 📹: Y-Option with Yogi Roth

Chris Petersen on why head coaches need to start by leading themselves first. “You can’t give away what you don’t possess.” Coaches often ask how to develop better habits, focus, self-awareness, and resilience in their players. The uncomfortable answer is that it starts with you. You won’t be able to sustainably lead people past the work you’re unwilling to do yourself. 🎥Source: Win More, Live Better Podcast (Ep. 81)

Stephen Vogt said, “Learn the lesson. Leave the event.” “You made what you thought was the best decision in the moment. Then you leave it behind.” Growth comes from reflection, not rumination. Mistakes don’t define you. They are part of the process - choose growth.

Tucker Carlson: I’m a bit confused conceptually with the idea that White self-awareness is effectively illegal in the US whereas ethnic self-awareness in every other group is encouraged. As long as you are encouraging identity politics, why do Whites not get to have it? Peter Brimelow: Its because the people running the society are anti-White

“Some coaches brag about having 25 years of experience, but if they never grew or learned or got better — they got 1 year of experience repeated 25 times” The thinking…the hard stuff!!! How do you progress as a coach? How do you build 25 years of experiences as opposed to 25 X 1 year of experiences? Of course, there are likely many answers…but, perhaps, in a nutshell we can consider self-skills critical essentials. Self-awareness Self-control Self-reflection Self-development To know self…and to continue to know self… To take control of oneself so one can employ new approaches and tools To reflect in-action (during a session) and on-action (after a session) To create and engage in a plan of improvement (as a result of reflection and feedback) By engaging in self-skills your coaching toolbox can broaden and deepen…and your judgement and decision-making can become more thoughtful and more accurate…
