& This is no shade to Mr.Baldwin, I just love his facial expressions lol bc I don’t think he was ready for what she had to say…

What I got from Nikki Giovanni is that she doesn’t want her partner to actually fake it with her, but she wants her partner to be more open to sharing the same happiness he expresses with others outside of her, like his friends, his colleagues, & bosses… Like, why do I have to get these versions ( angry, frustrated) when I'm the one that loves you? Why am I to get what’s left? & not the one that gets all you? It doesn’t have to be all bliss bc notion isn’t real, but those negative feelings are outweighing the good, and I deserve more... home should be first & not last. It also makes me think of bell hooks words in “all about love”.

Realizing Nikki Giovanni and James Baldwin so excellently articulated the strain put upon Black Love between BM and BW yet they were both gay. However, also realizing their iconic conversation was really about loving anyone burdened with living in two worlds but only pleasing one.

A lot of men aren’t going to get this, but this hits so hard. Willing to fake your happiness to everyone who means you harm only to come home to the one you say you love and give her the Hell you hide with others. Either lie to her too or spend that anger on your enemies.
