I felt the best in the car this weekend and I really feel like this small tweak we made into qualifying was just right and we're making tweaks as we're going through this session just with wing and Q3 run one felt good and I did a really good prep laps and then when I started my lap my SM wasn't on and I was down already like a tenth and a half or two tenths into turn one so that and then I had turn seven because I was trying to floor it back so you know but it's nice I think we probably could have fought for third I think that was the case yesterday as well but it means like a perfect lap out of our car and um but the good thing is that we're kind of we are improving and I really hope that I can take this sort of performance home for the season." "There's been a lot of internal factors. I don't want to get too crazy into it, but there's been adjustments I've have to make based off of things that people are seeing. I have hit people really, really hard as well. So my hands aren’t clean, but I feel like I’ve eased up a little bit. There was this one segment that I did with Jordynne and she just caught me at the right spot and then I couldn’t chew properly for a week. So I was like, ‘Hey, we have to wrestle again in Vegas. Maybe… maybe just back up a little bit.’ Then she was just like, ‘Are you kidding me? THE MOST IMPORTANT Q&A OF MEDIA DAY. Mariana: You came from a very solid weekend on top of everything, but at the same time, it seems that you don't feel that the team is listening to you. Am I right? And how do you balance that? Lewis: I feel like we're going in the right direction. Rome wasn't built in one day, so it takes time to build. For me, coming into the team, I wanted to be respectful of the way they've done things in the past and just to really observe and see where our strengths and where our weaknesses are and to highlight where our weaknesses are and areas that we need to work on. But I do feel that they've been responding. I think you're starting to see, hopefully, some of the impact of the work that we're doing in the background and also into next year's car. This is a car that I've had nothing to do with in terms of developing this car over the years. Hopefully, from next year, my input goes into that car, and that will be a car that I've hopefully been a part of or will have been a part of developing. But I think we've got a really great rapport. I think we're really progressing, particularly since the summer break. I think things have started to get better, and it's all just about building trust and communication. Also, I'm coming into a team that English is not the first language, and I don't speak Italian, so it's finding a common ground. And the fact is we all want to win. We're all here to achieve the same thing, and we've got to just keep pushing. So that's why I'm trying to keep everyone motivated on difficult weekends, trying to keep everyone lifted up. But there have been many, many things we've changed this year that I suggested that they hadn't done in the past, and so they have been listening. It doesn't change straight away, just like that. It takes time to build. And as engineers, they really need proof. They need numbers. That's what they work on. I've been reflecting, I've been thinking about my whole career. This is an important night for me, it's an important night for us as a collective, you know. I can remember distinctly, the year before I got put in the band, I actually also auditioned on The X Factor, right, and I remember distinctly... I was 17, I remember distinctly coming back and I... I got a 'no', I wasn't going to get through, and I remember being in the car with my mom, we stopped off, grabbed a Subway, that was lovely, and I'm just bawling my eyes out, being like, 'I fucking really want this, I really, really want this.' And you know, at that age, it's... it's kind of difficult to deal with that kind of shit, definitely. So, but... but luckily, you know, I had a... a good, good support and good advice around me, and I... and I went again, and then luckily, I got put in the band. And I fucking cherished every single year we had in the band, that was incredible. And you know, then there was a time where that wasn't a thing anymore, whatever we called it, fucking hiatus, or whatever. And... so I was kind of at that same place again, I was like, 'I really fucking want this, I don't want to let this go, you know, I fucking love doing what I do.' But I couldn't, I couldn't really, maybe to my own detriment, I couldn't really see the finish line like that, or even see the light at the end of the tunnel like that, I was... You know, some are having kids and some married, some, you know, most of them girlfriends. I did that when I was in my 20s, but I took a decision to really to maximize my time that I have here because it's not as long as you think and it's limited, you know. And I don't want to look back and be like, ah, if I just gave a little bit more here, I didn't sacrifice my time because I was committed elsewhere." "So I really focused in these last, you know, particularly these last 10 years, like get everything I can out of my performance. Then when I retire, then I can do whatever I want. You know, I can dedicate my time to whatever else it is and not have to worry." "But in this competition time, focus on health, well-being, my mental health, my driving technique, being as good an engineer as I can be, and also being the best teammate that I can potentially be for the guys that I get to work with. 💬: how did you become mentally stronger? 🥟: i was really young when i debuted, i was still in high school. i think being able to think about the things that i couldn't back then is a big part of my growth. there are things that i can feel for myself, what i should take to heart and i lerned how to judge for myself. so i've started to feel less stressed about those things and feel better! 💬: everything made me stress when i was young but i remember someone told me "look at the big picture" because i was always focused on what was happening right in front of me. when people do work like yours, they often don't think about your mental health but actually it's really important so i'm very happy to hear you've become much stronger mentally 🥟: this is really true 🦊: that's such a good advice 🥟: even when drawing, you shouldn't do it this way. you have to step back a bit and look at the bigger picture!

💬: how did you become mentally stronger? 🥟: i was really young when i debuted, i was still in high school. i think being able to think about the things that i couldn't back then is a big part of my growth. there are things that i can feel for myself, what i should take to heart and i lerned how to judge for myself. so i've started to feel less stressed about those things and feel better! 💬: everything made me stress when i was young but i remember someone told me "look at the big picture" because i was always focused on what was happening right in front of me. when people do work like yours, they often don't think about your mental health but actually it's really important so i'm very happy to hear you've become much stronger mentally 🥟: this is really true 🦊: that's such a good advice 🥟: even when drawing, you shouldn't do it this way. you have to step back a bit and look at the bigger picture!

I've always been a big believer that the more fans that work in the music industry, the better for the music and the better for everyone, really. You know, they're definitely the most passionate people. Um, you know, especially the likes of like managements or record labels, these kind of opinions are vital. [Fan: We live it, like, quite literally.] Absolutely, absolutely, yeah. There's not really, you know, it's not about kind of guessing, it's, like you say, you guys kind of live that life. So many Americans have to be feeling this same way “Why is no one talking about how serious the cost of living actually is? — My husband is working three jobs right now. We buy absolutely nothing, nothing that we don't need, and we actually go without a lot of things that we actually do need. I feel like if you're able to do anything that's not just surviving, then you got it good. I feel so sad that I didn't appreciate the times where we were able to actually have fun at this point. So much has changed in the past few years. Like, what? I just really, really want to know. How's everyone surviving? Is everyone working, like, 24/7? Because that's what my husband does, and I'm just home with my little kids all the time. It's kind of, like, depressing that we're never together as a family. So I don't know. I hope one day we can be, but it sucks.”
