Bengaluru is being strangled by a corrupt government that refuses to govern. The traffic crisis is worsening by the day, and the core reason is staring us in the face: the explosion of private vehicles. But instead of addressing this, the state government is fuelling it. Instead of building mass public transport, it has launched a war against it. At a time when every rupee of public money should be invested in making public transport more available, more affordable and more reliable, this government has done the opposite. It is punishing those who rely on public transport and actively incentivising more car and two-wheeler ownership. The state wants to spend ₹1 lakh crore to build 100 kilometres of new flyovers and 18 kilometres of tunnel roads - a gift wrapped package for the politician-contractor lobby. But here’s the punchline: more than 20 flyovers have been pending for close to eight years, lying incomplete across the city. Before even completing what it has already failed, the government wants to throw billions more at the same failure. This isn’t infrastructure building. This is an addiction to kickback-paying contracts. The ₹18,000 crore tunnel road is the peak of this madness — a vanity project that benefits only private cars while being a death sentence for the city’s public transport system. It will not serve the pedestrian, the cyclist, the commuter - it will serve only the cars, the SUVs. It won’t serve the common guy who uses the BMTC or the metro. While the government wants to build more roads, it is killing last mile connectivity. Carpooling, bike-sharing, and auto-sharing remain unsupported. It refuses to allow private players to run buses alongside BMTC, despite the overwhelming demand. Metro fares are being hiked unscientifically, pushing people away from mass transit instead of into it. Meanwhile, ridership in Metro is weakening. And the result? The roads are flooded with cars. A recent study by Bengaluru Traffic Police on Outer Ring Road found a 20% increase in vehicle numbers in just one year, resulting in a 125% increase in congestion. This is not sustainable. This will lead to a total collapse of the city. Every delay in Metro completion brings more cars onto the streets. Every step taken to weaken the bus system brings more two-wheelers into the chaos. Bengaluru already has more private vehicles than people. No other global city in our population bracket has done this because no other city has such a suicidal mobility policy. Let’s be clear: this government’s mobility policy is not citizen-centric. It is contractor-centric. It is not about moving people - it is about moving cars. This is a government in the grip of a politician-bureaucrat-contractor nexus, that would rather pour concrete than build a city that works. And who is paying the price? The nurse who takes the bus. The student who walks to the Metro. The delivery rider stuck in traffic. The poor and middle class of Bengaluru, who don’t own cars, but are cross-subsidising roads that are built exclusively for car owners. This is not just poor governance. It is structural injustice. This assault on Bengaluru must stop. Every rupee of public money must be redirected to public transport. That is the only globally proven solution to decongestion and cities with denser populations than ours have done it. What’s missing here is not technology or funds. What’s missing is political will. And that will won’t come from those in power. It must come from the people of Bengaluru. From those who are stuck in traffic and fed up of being lied to. From those who are tired of vanity projects and demand real mobility solutions. From a new generation of leadership that fights for commuters, not contractors. Bengaluru is choking. We can either demand change - or let this city be buried under its own traffic. Let’s tell loud and clear - Public Transport is our Fundamental Right. We need our government to provide it. My remarks at the World Symposium on Sustainability & Livability hosted by IISc Bangalore.

Redefining Connectivity: Mumbai’s Journey Towards Integrated Mobility Delighted to inaugurate, flag off, and unveil the stone plaque of 'Metro Line 9: Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon (Phase-1)', ‘Metro Line 2(B) Deshbhakt N. G. Acharya Udyan - Diamond Garden to Maharashtra Nagar, Mandale (Phase-1), and e-Bhoomipujan of the Automated Rapid Transit System (Pod Taxi) Project for Bandra-Kurla Complex, and the launch of 'Tunnel Boring Machine - Nayak' for the 'Thane-Borivali Underground Tunnel Project' in Mumbai, marking a significant step towards seamless connectivity and transformative urban mobility. Metro services have commenced today on the 4.7 km corridor from Dahisar East to Kashigaon, with four stations along the route, enhancing connectivity and making travel between Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar faster and more convenient. This project, with an investment of approximately ₹6607 crore, will reduce the current travel time from 1-2 hours to nearly 30 minutes. In the upcoming phases, this corridor will be integrated with Metro Line 3, enabling seamless travel from Mira-Bhayandar to Colaba. With over 100 kilometres of metro lines now operational, Mumbai has emerged as the second-largest metro network in the country after Delhi. In the coming years, the network will expand further with the completion of several ongoing projects, strengthening connectivity across the city. The first phase of Metro Line 2B, spanning 5.6 km with five stations, is now operational from today. Once the rest of the phases are fully completed, this transformative project will seamlessly connect the East-West and North-South corridors, enabling smoother and more efficient travel across the city. Notably, this will be the first metro line to connect with the Harbour Line, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Mumbai’s integrated urban transport network. The e-Bhoomipujan of the innovative ‘Pod Taxi’ project was undertaken in the BKC area, marking a significant step towards strengthening last-mile connectivity. This automated system will enable commuters to reach within 100–150 metres of their destinations, enhancing convenience and efficiency. The Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project is a landmark initiative that will significantly decongest Mumbai and Thane cities. Spanning 11.84 km, including a 10.25 km twin tunnel stretch, this transformative corridor is designed for efficiency and safety, featuring two traffic lanes and one emergency lane in each tunnel. The tunnels are being constructed in a safe, efficient, and eco-friendly manner, keeping in mind the ecological sensitivity of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. A huge mobility leap for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. India’s largest and longest urban road tunnel, the Thane–Borivali Twin Tunnel Project, has just crossed a historic milestone. MMRDA has successfully completed the Thane-side portal excavation and lowered the 13.34-metre single-shield Tunnel Boring Machine cutterhead, the largest ever deployed in India for an urban infrastructure project. This milestone signals the start of the actual tunnelling phase of this pathbreaking project. The 11.8-kilometre underground twin tunnel will seamlessly connect Thane’s Ghodbunder Road with the Western Express Highway in Borivali, cutting travel time from 60–90 minutes to just 15 minutes, and redefining how lakhs of Mumbaikars move. Passing beneath the eco-sensitive Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the tunnels are being built using the most advanced TBM technology to ensure safe, efficient and eco-friendly construction with minimal ground disturbance. Each tunnel will feature three lanes, including a dedicated emergency lane, with cross-passages every 300 metres. The tunnels will be equipped with advanced ventilation systems, modern firefighting equipment, smoke detectors and illuminated LED signboards. Once completed, this landmark project will drastically reduce travel time, ease congestion, lower emissions and deliver a faster, cleaner and smarter commute for citizens. The successful lowering of the TBM cutterhead is not just an engineering achievement. It is proof that Mumbai is ready to take on the most complex underground mobility challenges, head-on. Through projects like the Thane–Borivali Twin Tunnel, MMRDA is reimagining and redefining mobility in the MMR. #MMRDA #TransformingMMR #ReimaginingMMR #TwinTunnelProject #HistoricMilestone #LargestTunnel #MMRDA50 #LargestTBM #ThaneBorivaliTunnel #TunnelBoringMachine #TunnelSafety #MumbaiMatters #UrbanDevelopment #MumbaiInMinutes #ReshapingMMR #RebootingMumbai #MumbaiInfrastructure #UrbanMobility #SmartTransport CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee PIB India MAHARASHTRA DGIPR

Frustrated & demoralised by their resounding defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections in #Karnataka, BJP leaders are peddling their favourite set of lowly lies of Pakistan Zindabad slogans being raised by supporters of Congress MP elect, Sh. Dr Syed Naseer Hussain, M P ! Not only is this an absolutely false bogey, this is the extreme sense of exasperation that exists in their perverted mindsets against anyone who belongs to a minority community, particularly a Muslim Minority. They are doing the same thing to our Sikh brothers in farm stir, calling them Khalistanis. A BJP MP from Karnataka recently again called all farmers Khalistanis. They do the same to the Christian Minority by raising a fake bogey of conversion. Congress and Karnataka Congress will not be intimidated by these fake propagandists, who can’t dare to speak a word against Modi Govt for unleashing economic blockade of Karnataka by denying over ₹62,098 CR in 15th Finance Commission to Karnataka, Loss of ₹76,880 to Karnataka in Tax Devolution, stopping the ₹5,300 CR for the Upper Bhadra Project and & 6,000 CR for the Peripheral Ring Road of Bengaluru. To the imbecile minds who tarnish an entire minority community with the same brush, please remember that Sh. Naseer Hussain is a committed Nationalist and doctorate from JNU, who has been elected President of JNU Delhi twice besides its Vice President and General Secretary. He has risen through the ranks of Youth Congress to be the Spokesperson of Congress and Whip of Party in Parliament. His stoic defence of Congress ideology and frontal attacks on Govt inside and outside Parliament is what has unnerved BJP leaders. We condemn this sinister and malicious agenda in the strongest words. Meanwhile, I have advised Sh. Naseer Hussain to lodge an FIR against the channel who showed this fake news (which is owned by a Union Minster who was not given Rajya Sabha this time by BJP and is hoping to contest on BJP ticket from Bangalore in Parliament elections) and other miscreants. Pl know we will take action with full force of law. For those unaware, I am putting the raw footage of the video for everyone to see and adjudge.👇

A 120-km coastal corridor that will transform how Mumbai moves. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region is set for its biggest mobility leap yet — a high-speed coastal corridor that will supercharge the region’s growth. The Government of Maharashtra has cleared the Uttan–Virar Sea Link and its extension to Vadhavan Port, unlocking a 120-km, fully access-controlled coastal expressway that will connect South Mumbai to Vasai, Virar, Palghar and India’s upcoming largest deep-sea port. The Mumbai–Vadhavan Expressway Corridor (MVEC) will not only bring Mumbai closer to its far suburbs, but also serve as a new gateway to India’s growth, integrating major expressways, coastal roads and future national corridors into one seamless, high-speed network for people, freight and industry. At its core is the 24.35 km Uttan–Virar Sea Link, set to become India’s longest sea bridge. With 30+ km of connectors, 6 lanes, emergency lanes, navigational spans and a full Intelligent Transport System, this sea link is designed for speed, safety and smart mobility. Once completed, MVEC will: ✔️ ease congestion on WEH, SV Road and Link Road ✔️cut travel time across the region ✔️ reduce emissions ✔️boost affordable housing, tourism and port-led development ✔️ and create thousands of jobs It will also unlock land along the Uttan–Bhayandar, Vasai and Virar belt, opening new avenues of growth for local communities. With the proposal now recommended to the Government of India, MMR’s next era of connectivity and coastal development has truly begun. A new coast. A new corridor. A new wave of opportunities for millions. #MMRDA #MVEC #MumbaiVadhavanExpresswayCorridor #UttanVirarSeaLink #UVSL #LongestSeaBridge #MMRDA50 #CoastalCorridor120KM #GatewayToGrowth #TransformingMMR #ReimaginingMMR #RebootingMumbai #ReshapingMMR #SeamlessConnectivity #IndiaOnTheMove #SmartMobility #HighSpeedCorridor #BuiltForTomorrow #MumbaiInMinutes #FutureReadyMumbai CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee MAHARASHTRA DGIPR
