Friday, March 24, 2023. After a frosty cold morning with several inches of new snow; a mix of sunshine and clouds this afternoon. Recent moisture seems to intensify the colors of the peaks and cliffs within this vast canyon. Across on the north rim, it is continuing to snow.

The tropics are a very moist, humid place. As Tropical #CycloneGabrielle tracks out of the tropics, it will bring all of that moisture (🟣) with it! NZ's complex terrain can further enhance rainfall amounts. This is why there is a concern for over a month's worth of rain.

Flip the rainy season switch! A sight for sore eyes, as FL has endured the worst drought in decades. After a brief dry break Friday, the models consistently show a rapid surge in moisture and a rapid start to wet season, as a long southeast fetch of wind forces tropical moisture from the tropics across the state leading daily downpours starting as early as this weekend/ early next week with East coast morning showers, West coast late day downpours. And consistently humid days. #rain #storms #florida

Ireland has just experienced the highest rainfall events ever recorded, resulting in widespread flooding. A 1°C temp rise = ~7% more moisture in the atmosphere. At ~1.5°C global warming, that sponge is saturated, expect huge droughts & record floods onwards in this new climate.

The greatest atmospheric ballet... simply air and moisture doing their duty. Seen here is perhaps the most beautiful NEXRAD radar loop I can possibly produce.. A near-endless stream of larger-scale, swirly, "radargenic" mesovortices rolling southward along a convergence boundary atop lake Michigan. One of the prettiest things our atmosphere can produce, and it just kept on doing it for hours upon hours! This radar loop covers approximately 14 hours, throughout 2024/01/19, starting at approximately 07z and ending around 21z. Longest loop I've made so far with the new python script! And probably my favorite...

Watch as a strong Bermuda high and persistent southerly fetch funnels a plume of tropical moisture north into the Gulf. The main event will start this weekend and persistent into next week. The details are fuzzy, but you can bet some folks along the Gulf Coast, from Louisiana to Florida will get 10” of rain over the next two weeks. Pinpointing exactly where though is still unclear, but all will see #drought relief! Stay tuned! #florida #rain #tropical
