“Forget it. It's too risky."   This line in the opening scene of Pulp Fiction acts as a promise to the audience that something big is about to happen in the future. What's too risky? What's the plan? It's a line that not only grabs our attention but also keeps it throughout the scene.

High Stakes: There’s always something at stake in every scene in Tarantino’s films, which is why every line of dialogue is so powerful. The audience is forced to squirm in their seats as they watch these characters prattle on about something trivial, all while they are inching closer to death with every passing second.

Subtext: The difference between what the character says and what the character keeps in their head. In this scene, Hans Landa knows that the three Americans are pretending to be Italians, but instead of exposing them, he makes them repeat their last names over and over, even praising one for imitating the accent well. Tarantino makes us enjoy what Hans Landa says, but at the same time, he makes us worry about what he's thinking.

Suspense: The final device that makes Tarantino's dialogue so brilliant is suspense. He utilizes a key element, which consists of giving the audience information that the characters are unaware of.

I don’t get the hate for The Hateful Eight. The dialogue in it gets me hooked in. It doesn’t have much action in it, yet the dialogue and character development makes up for it.

This in my opinion is top tier dialogue. This one always keeps me hooked. Reservoir Dogs table scene can never be denied but this one, 4 friends just hanging out keeps me so engaged.
