The blur shader can now have distance-based falloff based on how far something is behind the surface. I did a bad job of showing this last time, so hopefully these feet will help.

$Finally! We can look underwater in #VRAGE3 (confirmed: no aliens there). It is first implementation with just a distance based fog and nice refraction when looking through the water surface. It also features new FFT based waves on the surface.$

Something I made a little while ago -- a blur implementation in the shader editor. Uses a custom node with a kernel to easily do sharpening etc with it too! It's interesting to play with for camera distance based blurring :3 #blender3d #b3d

For optimization, I don't want to simulate water in a steady state (e.g. this lake), but a flat water surface is boring. So I made the vertex shader add random periodic offsets based on vertex pos hash and it seems to do the trick 🥰 #indiedev #gamedev #indiegames
