The creative process can't be planned, and it has to be difficult. Otherwise the answer would be obvious. The key insights often don't arrive until you're halfway through the implementation. Wishing you were smarter/wiser on day 1, so you could have avoided the twists, is silly.

100%. I can't tell you how many times I ran into a problem without a clear solution, but the act of just working on it led to figuring it out over an iteration or two.

There's a lot of studies and science done on creativity. The main takaways is that it happens when people are at peace and very relaxed. It's a prerequisite to creativity.

Creative process in in a way "time irreducible". It's not a mathematical formula that you just plug in numbers to simulate what the state would be in "x" years from now - no, you have to compute, spend time on it to yield results

Thank you DHH... I needed this right now!

Needed to hear this today, thanks!

The journey's messy and unpredictable. It's the struggle that spurs growth, right? Keep pushing through those twists

the muse comes down when it comes down. You can't have creativity planned and on a schedule.

Thanks for saying it out loud.

Pinning this one into slack :) Perfect is the enemy of done.
