We have a huge infrastructure spending backlog in Tshwane, especially in townships including in Hammanskraal. For years, our spending on infrastructure has lagged behind the city’s population growth. Many capital projects, for roads and storm water, were cancelled by the previous administration. We have taken a decision to correct this problem by allocating funds for infrastructure projects. In the draft budget 2026/27 we have set aside R2,8 billion for infrastructure projects with an increase to R3,5 billion in the following year. #TshwaneIDP City of Tshwane

With the city cleansing levy still in dispute and no clear plan from the coalition government to balance the books, the worst case scenario is becoming more likely. Residents deserve honesty about the state of our finances and a credible plan to fix it.
