One useful thing to note is that the bypass air on the high bypass engine acts as a noise suppressor and generally speaking, means you don’t hear our modern aircraft in the same way we used to in the 70/80/90’s & some of 00’s.

No turbine engine can accept supersonic airflow through the core due to internal shockwaves destroying it. Supersonic aircraft use divergent and convergent ducting at the front and the rear. Essentially slowing at the front and speeding at the rear.
