Blitz may have gotten home if he wasn't 8 yards off the LOS. Also a strange play call considering teams have been attacking the middle of the Eagles Defense for the last 6 weeks and this completely clears out where teams have been consistently attacking us.

It wasn't Sweat man; he did right. Nickel DB should have stayed on his man. We blitz the safety so that has to be a man call across the field

Plainly obvious Maddox has no clue that Sweat is assigned to the RB in the flat. He runs to the flat while Wan'Dale Robinson is running wide open across the field. This miscommunication happens way too many times, not just each game, but each defensive series.

Patrick Surtain is the best CB in the NFL and AJ Brown beat him in the 1st half. But then the Broncos went to a lot more zone coverage and Brown was blanked (except for 1 more slant against man coverage). Players beat man and scheme beats zone. The Eagles have the players. They don't have the scheme. Again, I have no idea why any team would play any defensive snap that wasn't a 4-man rush with zone coverage behind until the Eagles figure out how to beat it.

Lots to talk about on this play 1) The design is terrible. The Eagles get a clear zone indicator pre-snap and run Mesh which is terrible against zone coverage 2) It's a shame that the play was negated by a holding call because it's a nice job of extending the play and finding AJ Brown in the back of the endzone 3) It's probably a hold on Dickerson. But Eagles fans are annoyed because they never get holding calls and this one is pretty ticky-tack. 4) I was fine with the no-call on Parsons. He doesn't lower the helmet and hits him right after the ball comes out. But again, its annoying to see this when Milton Williams got penalized last week for an open-handed push after the ball was out.

The defense is being forced to defend run action, quarterback movement, and a field-side bunch formation at the same time. Against condensed sets and bunch looks, defenses often like Cover 4 because it lets them play with clean rules to pass bunch crossers easily while keeping the roof protected. The issue is what happens when the single receiver crosses the formation and floods into the opposite side of the field. Cover 4 is built to distribute vertical threats, but it can get stressed when the receiver count changes late. The boundary safety is occupied by the new No. 3 vertical. The back releases to the flat, No. 2 becomes No. 3, and the safety has to carry that vertical threat. Now the backside corner is trying to chase the single receiver across the field with no real help waiting for him. That is the design. Move the quarterback. Sell stretch with the OL.
