The Evil Within 2 is a masterclass in open-world horror. No bloated maps. No mindless filler content. Just a tight, eerie town where curiosity gets punished with dread instead of rewarded with loot. Absolutely genius level design.

I loved the original Evil Within 1. I started pt2 but it didn't grip me, I didn't like how they totally switched up what I loved about the first game. But as a huge fan of Silent Hill and survival horror, I'm willing to listen to selling points on why I should give it another go.

I love both games, and I can see where you're coming from, as it's a pretty big departure. But for me, I love "suburban horror", and Evil Within 2 scratches that itch. Plus, the open level design is so fun for me that it eclipses the first game specifically because of that

@CBellLife Have they improved since the days of observer and Blair witch? I didn’t hate the content of the games themselves but they ran so poorly on consoles and my pc that I’ve blacklisted them and everything they touch basically.

This game is what I had hoped RE3 remake would have turned out like. Such a shame too since modern RE games borrow so much from both Evil within 1 and 2.

YESSS. Raccoon City was such a let down in RE 3 Remake.

The Matrix but make it horror was a good idea. Love this series. Wish we got a third.

Still prefer one over two but after a recent replay I’ve softened up on it. Very good, very fun, very scary! Original I give a 9/10 & two I give an 8/10. But the scariest part is we’ll probably never get a number 3!

The first game got a bit too scary for me at one point and quit. The second game gave me the revenge for that moment and payback for the one who made it so hard! Really enjoyed the second game.

It was considerably less horrifying than the first. I felt....very unsatisfied. I was expecting more Ruvik and just got a serial killer with delusions of aristocracy and taste.

It's one of the few games I reviewed that I gave a perfect score to.

For me (unpopular opinion), this is better than the first one. Is in my list of favorite games of all times.

One of my fav survival horror games.

The open world was a detriment to the horror it was trying to deliver. You always had sufficient room to run from an enemy so there was no tension. From a strictly horror perspective EW1's claustrophobic nature was much better in execution.
