While exploring the Lucasfilm archives for Rogue One, Gareth Edwards discovered cans of original Star Wars footage that had never been fully digitised. Among them were unused 1977 shots of Red Leader and Gold Leader. ILM restored the footage and placed the pilots into the Battle of Scarif nearly 40 years later.

Rogue One did so many incredible things, from showing us how terrifyingly cutthroat the Empire could be to explaining the origins of the Death Star's weakness & just how the Rebel Alliance acquired the plans we first heard about in 1977, but one of the best, most bittersweet moments is Galen's heartbreaking message to Jyn just before the destruction of Jedha City. 💔 Gareth Edwards gave us a masterpiece.

Will forever stand by the fact that The Battle of Scarif at the end of Rogue One is genuinely one of the greatest fictional battles that I've ever watched in a movie. Gareth Edwards' stunning visuals only make this sequence even more iconic, and I'll always appreciate how they utilized unused footage from 1977 to further interconnect this story to the original Star Wars film. Can't believe it's almost been a decade since I first watched this in theaters, seeing this in IMAX with a packed crowd back in 2016 was unreal.

HORRIFYING: random black family terrorizes ICE, the ATF, and the Hennepin County Sheriff's department (acting on information from ICE and the ATF) by *checks notes* living in the apartment the next floor down from the one they had a search warrant to execute to try and find the missing gun from the ICE weapons locker that got broken into and actually expecting law enforcement to know how to read numbers. Don't worry, they got what was coming to them, though: The entire family handcuffed and dragged out of the apartment, and the entire apartment flipped upside down as officers searched shoeboxes for a gun that was far too large to fit in one. Then, after they trashed the entire place, they just left without cleaning up and with the door not closing anymore like the heroes they are. And remember, this was THE WRONG APARTMENT - they had the wrong address. For the record, this search warrant blitz covered multiple properties at the same time as they looked for that gun, meaning that they KNEW most of the houses they were going to raid were going to be innocent. God bless our patriot heroes and protect them from those who would expect them to be able to...you know, read numbers.
