The Hobbit trilogy. The story had such a solid foundation but aside from the first film, it completely fell apart in the second and third. Unnecessary additions, excessive CGI, and dragged out scenes turned what should’ve been a simple and beautiful adventure into something messy

The Hobbit trilogy trailers genuinely made it feel like another all-timer was coming. Then the movies slowly turned a small, heartfelt adventure book into three bloated CGI war epics.

The Hobbit trilogy (2012–2014) is a textbook case of excess smothering a good story. A slim, charming book stretched into three films, padded with CGI spectacle and side plots until the heart got lost.

She took it personal 😤 and turned a simple handshake into unnecessary humiliation on the mat. #Sportsmanship

Witch Hat Atelier #03 is outstanding. The stellar setpieces play a big role in that, but what elevates it is the beautiful additions that organically flesh out Coco's adventure and root it more firmly in her character arc

They had the vision, the lore, and the VFX, and they turned it into a mere love story.

Excalibur has a fantastic opening 30 minutes and then it all falls apart, but then (strangely mirroring Arthur's reign in the film) it totally redeems itself with a completely badass final act... Uryens knighting Arthur from the first 30:

Gladiator 2 is a film that didn’t work for multiple reasons- one being scenes such as this. The unnecessary use of CGI totally took me out of the film. Gladiator released 24 years before its sequel but somehow looks much better. The filmmaking in Gladiator 2 really disappointed.

Westworld as a TV adaptation went way beyond the original film, especially in season 1. It took a simple sci-fi premise and turned it into a layered maze of identity, memory, and free will. That first season is as close to perfect tv as the story ever got.

The Never Ending Story II debuted in the US in February 1991, in an attempt to cash in on the 1984 hit. It was a poor excuse for a film, scoring around 14% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 30/100 Metacritic score. Complaints were: - Weaker special effects vs the first film - Weak story line - Generic fantasy feel, not as imaginative I loved the first film as a child and when this second film came out, I was in elementary school. I remember one of the kids getting the medallion from the move / book as some merch and I knew they had cashed out at that point. Do you recall seeing the second movie?

A family says what started as a simple accident on a fishing trip quickly turned into something else. After slipping on a wet floor and hitting the throttle, the captain completely lost it, yelling and reacting way out of proportion, even with kids on board Imagine how awkward the ride back was 😬

A dumping site in Tehsil Arifwala has been turned into a beautiful park and recreational space for children and families. This perhaps is the first park in the whole Tehsil.

Molly’s Lips. The Vaselines put it out in 1988. Their version is almost sweet. Man and woman trading lines over jangly, simple guitars. A little naive. A little playful. It feels like it could have been recorded in a living room. Nirvana first started covering it in 1990. They took the same song and flipped it completely. They sped it up, distorted it, and turned it into something harder and more relentless. What started as a charming little indie tune became a short, sharp blast. Kurt kept the melody but stripped away the sweetness until it sounded like it belonged in a different world entirely. Same song. Two completely different animals. That’s one of the best things that era could do: take something small and flip it on its head until it hit harder than the original ever did.

When The Hobbit Announcement trailer was released on December 23, 2011, Peter Jackson was still planning the project as a two-film adaptation rather than a trilogy. Later, on July 30, 2012, it was announced that The Hobbit would be expanded into a trilogy, just like The Lord of the Rings. In my opinion, this was one of the biggest mistakes made in the adaptation. Do you think the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, set to be released in December 2027, might make the same mistake and be expanded into a trilogy as well? What are your thoughts on this?
