I try to be open-minded and assume the best of government people doing their due diligence - but this whole thing seems a bit hinky, while ULA is dumping multi-ton boosters into the Gulf Stream. Fish & Wildlife service has no problem with that.

This is very frustrating. Especially when you add in the Mars trip windows every two years. You miss one then you set us back two years.

The FAA and the government in general has had it out for SpaceX for a while now and it's super frustrating. Considering NASA just enlisted SpaceX to save the botched Boeing CFT, they really should have a little more respect for the amazing work SpaceX is doing.

It is impossible to overestimate the malign bureaucratic intent of the federal administrative state. SpaceX/Musk have been targeted at the expense of the national interest. The end result is Artemis delayed and Chinese boots on the Moon "first."

Elon Musk on why SpaceX must think long term: “I really just need to make sure that I can focus on the long term. By long term, I just mean five to ten years. One of the challenges with being a public company is the pressure to have great results every single quarter and to not really invest in things that may only pay off in full. And so I think it’s a good idea to invest in things that are going to pay off in five to ten years. In the case of SpaceX, I want to extend consciousness beyond Earth and have a growing civilization on the Moon, Mars, and elsewhere in the solar system. The return, I think ultimately, would be very high. The California Coastal Commission has already made up its mind that it would deny SpaceX a coastal development permit (CDP) if SpaceX applies for one – It is a foregone conclusion. The problem for the Commission is that the US Space Force has already agreed to ALL of the Commission's demands regarding environmental safeguards and monitoring at Vandenberg for the increased number of SpaceX launches. Now, the Commission realizes that if it votes in favor of the consistency certification of the US Space Force, it would be impossible to then find a plausible environmental reason to deny SpaceX a CDP that's based on the exact same parameters as the US Space Force's consistency certification. This is an overt act of political bias by the Commission against Elon Musk and SpaceX. This is why SpaceX has filed a federal lawsuit against the Commission to seek an order that would bar the Commission from regulating its rocket launch program at Vandenberg.
