At 12:53 p.m., Gretna Fire and Springfield Fire were called to Rondo Drive and Pearl Drive for a house fire. A working fire was declared and crews went to work on a possible attic fire. The area is in a “water restricted zone” with a single private hydrant to the north.

The Jones Fire burning in Ocean county, New Jersey has grown to 3,200 acres. Over 3,000 residents have been evacuated and 1,200 structures are threatened according to fire officials. A massive resource response is still underway including heavy equipment, crews, aviation, and engines. Fire managers are asking people to stop flying their drones over the fire. Numerous roads are closed including Garden State Parkway between Barnegat Road and Lacey Road. The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.

Fire Control Class 25-15 graduated 38 new Company Officers, marking the first ceremony held at the facility since it opened on July 7, 2025. During a routine training at the FDNY Fire Academy, a Lieutenant went into cardiac arrest and was unresponsive. Members rushed to his side, beginning CPR, while others called for backup. Paramedic Veronica Cruz and Paramedic Nyla Page, who are assigned to the Fire Academy, immediately responded, supplementing pre-hospital care with advanced life support. After shocking the Lieutenant's heart, a pulse returned and life was restored. Today, the Lieutenant is home with his family, thanks to the swift actions of our Paramedics and members.
