EXCLUSIVE: Scene of Nancy Guthrie private lab testing. I’m outside DNA Labs International where the DNA Testing of evidence is happening right now. I traveled to Deerfield Beach, Florida where lab technicians have been testing critical evidence in the investigation — including the glove found nearly 2 miles from her home. We’ve heard a lot about the discrepancies of sending this type of DNA evidence to a private lab versus a lab used by the FBI, but the Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, says this is their protocol, and a lab that they have used for years. There are only a limited number of private accredited DNA labs in the country capable of this level of forensic work. If possible, DNA Labs International will develop a DNA profile from the glove. According to independent DNA consultant Suzanna Ryan of Ryan Forensic, which is not connected to this case but can speak about how this all works, once a profile is developed it will most likely be sent to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. That’s where the quality control process begins: •A qualified DNA analyst or CODIS administrator verifies the data •The profile must meet strict standards before upload •Once approved, it is electronically transmitted through state systems to the Federal Bureau of Investigation •All systems work together within the national DNA database network CODIS This extra verification step can take time — but it’s critical to ensure the data is admissible and accurate. With a national deficit projected to hit $61.9 billion in 2025, diverting hundreds of millions—potentially billions—toward confiscating legally owned firearms from law-abiding citizens is, economically speaking, indefensible. The program’s estimated $1.6B cost, which will almost certainly balloon like the failed gun registry of the mid-90's, siphons funds from critical priorities like healthcare, housing, infrastructure and public safety. In addition, the program also fails at its goal: to increase public safety. Since the first gun ban, issued by Trudeau's government via Order-in-Council in May of 2020, law enforcement and policy leaders from across the country have been clear: The data continues to show that legal gun bans have had no measurable effect to slow criminal gun violence. In fact, it's only gotten worse. Primarily, that's because 90%+ of firearms used in violent crimes in Canada are illegally smuggled into the country, not legally owned by Canadian citizens. Firearms purchased in a gun 'buyback' program, aren't the guns being used in crime. If the Mark Carney government is serious about being fiscally responsible, and a protector of the rights of law-abiding gun owners, it would be a pragmatic and prudent first step to scrap this ineffective and costly program. GANG WARS: Information came to my attention on 19 May that firearms and ammunition seized across several Cape Town policing precincts had allegedly been left in SAPS 13 stores instead of being sent promptly to the Forensic Science Laboratory. I immediately wrote to SAPS and requested urgent intervention. Despite several follow-ups, I have received zero feedback. The matter appears to be stuck at the SAPS Western Cape Provincial Office. I will not disclose information that could compromise criminal investigations. However, these exhibits reportedly include prohibited firearms, homemade firearms, weapons with serial numbers removed and live ammunition. A seized firearm could link a suspect to other shootings, robberies or murders. If it sits in a storeroom instead of being analysed, those links may be missed and prosecutions weakened. This also demonstrates why appropriately trained and accountable municipal law-enforcement agencies need expanded investigative powers in defined cases. Officers cannot be expected to seize illegal firearms and make arrests, only for cases to stall after being handed over. SAPS must explain what happened, confirm where the exhibits are and hold those responsible accountable. More than seven weeks later, I am still waiting. Follow ups will continue. GANG WARS: Information came to my attention on 19 May that firearms and ammunition seized across several Cape Town policing precincts had allegedly been left in SAPS 13 stores instead of being sent promptly to the Forensic Science Laboratory. I immediately wrote to SAPS and requested urgent intervention. Despite several follow-ups, I have received zero feedback. The matter appears to be stuck at the SAPS Western Cape Provincial Office. I will not disclose information that could compromise criminal investigations. However, these exhibits reportedly include prohibited firearms, homemade firearms, weapons with serial numbers removed and live ammunition. A seized firearm could link a suspect to other shootings, robberies or murders. If it sits in a storeroom instead of being analysed, those links may be missed and prosecutions weakened. This also demonstrates why appropriately trained and accountable municipal law-enforcement agencies need expanded investigative powers in defined cases. Officers cannot be expected to seize illegal firearms and make arrests, only for cases to stall after being handed over. SAPS must explain what happened, confirm where the exhibits are and hold those responsible accountable. More than seven weeks later, I am still waiting. Follow ups will continue. Yet another reason why expansion of police powers to the City of Cape Town is critical and urgent. IC

Here is another snippet of my conversation with Ryan James Girdusky. There is a societal cost to enforcing the law and that cost is paid by society through danger to both our law enforcement officers and our civilians. This cost is an inevitability built it to the reality of enforcement and human nature. But America’s officers are very well trained and considering the size of our country and the number of officers or civilians lost during enforcement — we’re very successful at keeping this cost to a minimum. American law enforcement leaders are dedicated to a constant and continuing effort to minimize risks to both officers and civilians. Every life lost in an enforcement operation becomes a learning experience for officers throughout the country. Our law enforcement leaders have done a tremendous job developing training and strategies that have rendered use-of-force tragedies into anomalies. Americans should be very proud of where we are today as far as training of our officers.

#JonBenetRamsey case update ⬇️ Netflix has released “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey,” a three-part docuseries exploring the haunting 28-year-old mystery. This week I spoke one on one with her father John Ramsey while guest hosting Banfield - we discussed the frustrating journey to justice and why the Colorado Police Department has not invited independent investigative genetic genealogy labs to help solve the case … yet. I asked John Ramsey about his recent conversations with a new investigator about why they haven’t taken up ’s offer to help. He said “Well, we did. And basically what he said, Okay, look, there's some things happening that I can't tell you about, and don't think DNA technology is there yet. I totally disagree with that. I met the founders of Othram Labs, which is one of the cutting edge labs out there that'd be happy to help. I sent a letter to the chief based on my meeting with what I learned with Othram they said A) they don't destroy any DNA when they do testing on it anymore, which was one of the concerns. B) they have the ability to separate DNA, mixed DNA samples, which is one of the issues with the sample they got in 1997 they had an unidentified male DNA sample in early 1997 it was mixed, apparently, with the blood DNA that can, now technology wise, be separated. That's huge. And the third thing, they have the ability to do familial genealogy research, which has been wildly successful in solving Old, old cold cases. That's what we're asking the police to do. Go to one of these cutting edge labs, let them do new testing, and they need a new DNA sample. We have a DNA sample which was obtained in January 1997 of an unidentified male DNA. It's not in the format needed to do this familial genealogy research to be a new command, and that's why we need to do more testing. First, ATF forensic biologist Caitlin Oliver testified that Tyler Robinson’s DNA was the most degraded of all the samples found on the gun. She also confirmed there were multiple DNA contributors on the weapon — including Lance Twiggs and even Tyler’s father. Candace explained that if Tyler had recently fired the rifle, his DNA should have been among the freshest, not the most degraded. This strongly suggests his DNA was left on the gun long before September 10th. Even more explosive was the testimony from ATF ballistics expert Samantha Carner. Of the seven bullet fragments removed from Charlie Kirk’s body, only one was usable for analysis. That single fragment had a diameter too small to have come from Tyler Robinson’s .30-06 rifle. Additionally, Something HUGE Candace missed was that the ATF Analyst that performed the tesiting admitted the recovered rifle had dust inside the barrel — when it was recovered, which PROVES it had NOT been recently fired. The Massachusetts State Police aren’t incompetent when they don’t want to be. Trooper O’Loughlin discusses the proper use of evidence placards to process a crime scene. This is yet another thing absent in the Karen Read case—probably because the SERT Team was called in to process the scene and NOT the Crime Scene Services Section. This was always a huge red flag in my eyes—the SERT Team is not trained in forensic evidence processing or collection, and does not have any procedures in place for forensic evidence processing. Aside from using evidence placards, they’re not trained in forensic photography, evidence collection or chain of custody, crime scene integrity, among other things. If you don’t think this was a VERY deliberate decision, look no further than the MSP’s own description of the SERT Team’s duties: “…missing person searches, civil disturbances, special event crowd management, site security, or other situations where a cohesive unit of law enforcement officers may be needed.” You’ll be hard pressed to find any other cases where they’re the unit called to process a crime scene and collect evidence in a homicide—I’ve already tried. Most of the examples of cases I could find when the SERT Team was utilized were either missing persons searches, or for crowd management at parades, protests and other large crowd disturbances.

🚨🇺🇸 AUTHORITIES SAY SUSPECT FLEW TO PROVIDENCE IN OCTOBER, GUN TIMELINE STILL UNCLEAR Law enforcement officials said the suspect in the Brown University shooting was last believed to be living in Miami and flew into Providence earlier in October. Authorities said that information will be detailed in an affidavit. Officials confirmed the suspect moved around New England throughout October, November, and December. They said they are still piecing together his movements during that period now that his identity is known. Investigators said they do not yet know when or where the suspect obtained the firearms. Officials noted he could not have flown commercially with the weapons, making it likely they were acquired after his arrival, but stressed that remains unconfirmed. Authorities confirmed firearms were found at the scene in New Hampshire where the suspect was discovered deceased. Those weapons will be examined and compared with ballistic evidence from the Rhode Island shooting and, separately, the Massachusetts investigation involving the MIT professor. DNA testing will also be conducted to fully confirm links between evidence across locations.
