The new iOS share sheet in Obsidian lets you save X posts, YouTube transcripts, and content from other apps. Everything is converted to durable Markdown files. Try it in Obsidian 1.13 (beta)

@obsdmd How did I miss that the Obsidian web clipper downloaded Youtube transcripts to markdown? I only checked the desktop versions after noting the app does it...feel like an idiot.

@obsdmd Templates are already supported in the share sheet. We'll see about the rest, not sure yet. Web Clipper is definitely more of a power tool.

@obsdmd Before share sheets were supported, I created an iOS shortcut to get the defuddle contents of whatever I was sharing and add it my clippings subfolder but I’m not sure how feasible that is to bake directly into the share sheet

@obsdmd how is the extension getting the content of the X posts? I used to be able to load the x links in a WKWebView but today X just returns the first paragraph of posts/articles (everything is behind a paywall now). Are you receiving the content of the X webview?

@obsdmd if you don't already have TTS in Obsedian, I highly recommend PocketTTS (great for English, and streaming) and SuperTonic (for other 30 languages). i.e. in ReaderView

@kepano @obsdmd That’s not Obsidian I just was telling them that it’s easy to add AI voice models that run entirely on device because that’s what I did for my ReaderView app

@obsdmd They are links but you can always use the built-in Obsidian command to download attachments

@obsdmd Thanks, much needed! A native Obsidian–Anki link would solve a major gap for me The existing community plugins didn't quite do what I wanted, so I built a bridge app between Obsidian & Anki. It works, but a native solution would be far cleaner

I’ve never been able to get the iOS version of Obsidian to work for me. It always freezes, doesn’t sync files I add from iOS, etc… I’m not a guy who rushes out to buy the newest phone every time they release. Maybe my hardware is outdated?… iPhone13…newest iOS. Would love to integrate mobile with obsidian workflows.

@obsdmd This is underrated for AI workflows. Saving X/YouTube as Markdown means the research step can become an actual input file, not a pile of tabs. I’d add a tiny source note: why saved, what claim it supports, where it should be used next.

@obsdmd Both will continue to exist, Web Clipper is a browser extension so it can act on browser content in different ways that a share sheet cannot
