Hey :)) I just had an idea I'd like to try out. Can you tell me if it's even possible? Can a camera recognize different people and measure how far they are from the camera?

yes definitely possible, you could try with openCV + python + YOLO object detection model that would allow you to process video, detect people, and track their positions over time depth estimation is trickier, but I'm sure there are ways to do it
