My father holds the patent for the first single-chip microprocessor. When I was a kid I was excited about the future. Yelp reviews, medical uses, etc. connecting the world. In my city of Cape Coral they want to put cameras ran by AI on all the trash trucks, you’ll get a ticket if your grass is too high. You’ll get your property reassessed if there’s contraction material at the curb. If your roof needs repaired you’ll also get a warning, then a fine.

If the AI arms race is dependent on datacenters… we have 3000-4000 and China has 300-400.. wtf is going on?? But we’re getting Palantir, flock cameras, and kill switches in our cars. And bill gates tells us we’ll be left out of society if we don’t get a digital id. 🤔

I hear you, and you're right -- but I'm also conflicted. This seems to be the modern day arms race, and if we don't win, another country will and use that to our permanent detriment. It IS profiteering by Big Tech & I guess we just hope to get protection under their umbrella
