“It’s just a pure love for the game, I’m fascinated with it, I enjoy it, I love coaching, I love thinking about it. I think 20 years ago there was an element of anybody who played golf we pretended we weren’t golf nerds. I’m as biggest of golf nerd as you can get, I just like golf, I like everything about it, I like talking about it, I like the rules of the game, I like the etiquette of the game.” “I’m here now trying to be competitive but knowing the only way that I can be competitive is actually to enjoy my tournaments and events. I’m making much more of an effort to enjoy my life on Tour than I did when I was a young man.” 13 minutes of prime Padraig Harrington ahead of making his 500th start on the DP World Tour this week. #QatarMasters

Rory McIlroy thinks Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton should pay $6 million in DP World Tour fines to play in the next Ryder Cup. One of the biggest stories in golf right now is what will happen to Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton’s DP World Tour fines and will they maintain Ryder Cup eligibility for Adare Manor in 2027. As it stands, both Jon and Tyrrell, among other LIV players, have appealed their fines putting them in “stay” with no current information on when their appeal will be heard. Speaking ahead of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, Rory McIlroy thinks Jon and Tyrrell should just pay those fines and “prove” their commitment to the Ryder Cup: “Yeah, absolutely. Main thing is -- look, this is my opinion. We went really hard on the Americans about being paid to play the Ryder Cup, and we also said that we would pay to play in Ryder Cups. There's two guys that can prove it. Great. I think that's -- yeah.” This is a very interesting comment. What Rory McIlroy is suggesting here is that Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton pay $6 million each out of their own pockets to play in the same type of events that Rory gets enormous appearance fees for “supporting”. It’s also worth noting that Rory also plays the majority of his golf on a competitor to the DP World Tour and he doesn’t get fined for doing so. What do you think about this? Are the fines justified and should Jon and Tyrrell pay them?

Comedian Dusty Slay Explains Why He Questions the Moon Landing “If I say I don’t believe we landed on the moon, I feel like I’m really opening myself up. But I do have questions about it. The moon landing footage that we all see, as the ship’s coming down, we’re seeing it. Who’s filming that? And then when it takes off, someone’s filming. Did we leave a guy up there?” “I’m not calling them liars necessarily. But I’m like, I don’t know. I just don’t believe it. I think it’s okay to question. I’m not telling you how it is, I’m just asking. That’s all. ” Dusty Slay

💬Tyrrell Hatton immediate reaction as leader after the second round 📈 QUESTION: I've got to ask you, is practice overrated? HATTON: I don't know about that. It seems to be working okay for me this week. But still a long way to go. QUESTION: Your post-shot reactions are the stuff of legend, but also David Feherty makes a point quite often of how quickly you recover and refocus on the next shot. Does this course force you to do that even more? HATTON: I mean, yeah. This golf course can be very frustrating. Obviously I lose my head around the simplest of golf courses. Maybe guys playing this week, it kind of brings them closer to my level of losing their mind. I'm happy with how I've played the last two days. Even today when it was difficult, I was in some difficult positions, I still didn't feel like I was hitting that bad a golf shot. But it kind of happens around here, and ultimately just happy with how the back nine played out. Yeah, looking forward to the weekend now. QUESTION: Speaking of the weekend, the expectation level starting the week probably didn't sound like it was that high based on what you said yesterday. Does it change with the way you've played through two rounds? HATTON: I mean, I would say that the last two rounds have allowed me to feel more comfortable with what I'm trying to do and feel with the golf swing, and generally I feel like I've hit a lot of really good shots. Kind of taking confidence from that and hoping that I can keep the same feelings going and keep hitting good golf shots. I feel like at times I've holed some nice putts, so it would be nice if I can keep doing that. I mean, it's a quality leaderboard, there's a long way to go, and I'll just keep trying my best. #LIVGolfAndalucia | Legion XIII

Rory McIlroy has never minced his words when it comes to his views on LIV Golf. He was asked about it again yesterday, and in typical Rory fashion, after saying he was “too judgemental” with players that went, he then said “if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this (PGA Tour) is the place to be. And if you don't want to play here, I think that says something about you.” Speaking after a 5 under par 67 to climb inside the top 10 of the Truist Championship, Rory spoke about his thoughts on the news that the Saudi Arabian PIF was pulling funding to the league: “Yeah, look, I think everyone sort of knows my views on LIV and where it stands in the game of golf. I don't think I need to rehash any of that. It's never been for me and, look, it doesn't mean that LIV is going to go away. They're going to go and try and find alternative investment, whatever that may look like. But when one of the wealthiest sovereign wealth funds in the world thinks that you're too expensive for them, that sort of says something (laughing).” He then was asked what a possible route back for players to the PGA Tour would look like: “It's a question if they do want to come back. Obviously we have seen the quotes over the last few days. And, you know, it seems like some of the guys, if -- again, it all depends on what happens to LIV. But if it is a scenario where they have the option to come back and play on the traditional tours, you know, I think Brian Rolapp has said anything that makes this Tour stronger, anything that makes the DP World Tour stronger, I think everyone should be open to that. That's just good business practice. “So, but again I think there's going to be a lot of sort of bridges to cross to get there, just because, you know, obviously the guys over there are under contract and if they are able to keep it going and get a schedule together next year, it seems like those guys are still going to play the majority of their golf on LIV, in whatever form it takes.” That was followed up with a question about whether he was surprised that LIV Golf players have been outspoken about not wanting to return to the PGA Tour: “Yeah, which is totally fine. Like, again, I think I've said at the start, I was probably too judgmental with the guys that went because I was seeing it from my point of view and maybe not seeing it from other points of view. But again, I'm not going to judge anyone for not wanting to play on the PGA Tour. “I don't know, you know, does that mean that they go play DP World Tour maybe; if that's a pathway, that would make the DP World Tour stronger, and I would be delighted with that, because that's my home Tour, at the end of the day. “But this is, if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this (PGA Tour) is the place to be. And if you don't want to play here, I think that says something about you.” Rory is 4 shots behind Sungjae Im heading to the weekend at Quail Hollow. Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Truist Championship

VIDEO | Former Australia World Cup-winning captain and Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting, if he sees PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, is in the reckoning for the Indian T20 team as a serious contender to become India's next T20 captain and potentially replace Suryakumar Yadav in the future. "I think there are several contenders, but he's (Shreyas Iyer) one of the main contenders as far as I’m concerned. I think we saw at the start of the tournament just how good a T20 player he is and where he’s at, both on and off the field right now." "I think he’s a much more mature player than he’s probably ever been in his whole career. I think he’s completely on top of his game now. He’s probably a good example of what I was talking about earlier; it’s really hard to maintain a high level of consistency through 14 games of cricket. There are going to be times when you have your ups and downs as an individual and as a team." "I’m pretty sure he’ll bounce back in this last game that we’ve got. If he stands up and makes a big score, then we’re a good chance of winning the game." "I’ve been pretty vocal over the last couple of years that whenever India selects a team, and Surya’s not in it, I’m always very surprised. On the back of this IPL, I’m sure he’s one name the selectors will talk about, not just to get back into the side, but also with the captaincy next to his name." "The thing about Indian cricket is that you don’t just walk back into teams. You’ve got to put a lot of runs on the board and do it in a certain way. His season so far has been very impressive, and his captaincy has been excellent. I just think he’s in that little sweet spot in his life and career where, if captaincy came his way, then I think he’d make the most of it.” (Full video available on PTI Videos -

Come for the hilarious interaction between Xander Schauffele and Doug Ferguson. Stay for the great answer about the trend of removing trees from historic golf courses. "When I hear certain designers saying, I'm going to restore this course to 1915, I'm like, Well, it probably takes a good hundred years for a nice tree to grow, just to take it out, just to say it was where it was before. "I think people keep talking about distance and how the game is played, but just put a bunch of trees on a course -- I think Hilton Head is a good example. Do I like Hilton Head? Not really. But it's hard. It's kind of crazy, if you look at the winning score at Hilton Head and the winning score at Doral, one's called Hilton Head, and one's called the Blue monster. You're like I think the winning score at Miami is lower. It's just funny when you kind of look at it in that sense."

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on whether he has spoken to other managers or the Premier League about potentially changing the rule: “Yeah, but I think more than asking anybody else, the question has to be to the players. “What do they want? “If they raise their hands and say, ‘No, I prefer to stay at home and not travel,’ I think we have an issue, because then they don’t love what they do, which is matchday. “I’m sure that if you ask the players, everybody would like to be part of the squad on matchday because that’s the way that they can fulfil themselves. “Otherwise, you have to tell somebody, ‘You are not even part of this matchday,’ and that’s really, really tough. “It doesn’t help anybody. “It doesn’t help the club. It doesn’t help the valuation of the player. It doesn’t help the player feel part of something. “In my opinion, it’s a real issue that has a really, really simple solution.”

Inspired talking about Skewmond and" the best jungler in the west" debate Q: Everyone was talking a lot of Skewmond, and I would like to know about: do you believe like the series put an end to any debate about the best jungler in the West? Inspired: To me, there was never a debate. I knew that I’m always the best, but I think Skewmond is a good player. I wouldn’t say that he had any phenomenal series, though, this tournament. I think he, against T1, he still made a lot of mistakes. When he was stronger, he didn’t really try to fight enemies, and or sometimes just over committed a bit, and I think G2 won against T1 just by waiting for T1 to make mistakes. I think today, I think Skewmond played well in the team fights. I think every time he was on my screen and we’re like skirmishing and team fighting, I think he did a good job. But I think just like team wise, and like how they all played together as a team and use their jungler was wrong. And it’s hard to say, as I always said, that don’t really know who’s there like which jungler is good because you don’t really know what was his idea beyond the game plan, what his teammates wanted to do. But it just seems like they were not connected well enough, and on top of that, as I said, I think the drafts were not that great. So yeah, I think he’s a good player, but I think they need to work more on team synergy in order to actually pressure when they’re strong if they want to be like the best in the world, because I think they definitely can, but need to work a bit more. You have to respect Davey Grant's approach to the fight game at this stage of his career: "I’m not delusional—I don’t think I’m going to get in there and make a title run. Look, if that happens—if I go out and knock out the next three in quick fights—maybe we can start talking about it. But I’m building a legacy of exciting fights, which is what I want to be known for. I’m trying to make as much money as I can for my family before I retire, so I can invest and try to bring everyone on."

Scottie Scheffler was asked ahead of the BMW Championship his thoughts on the new changes coming on the PGA Tour and whether he’d like to see any of the LIV players back. On the incoming changes, he said: “Getting the best players competing against each other more often is what we want as players. I assume, you guys in the media, that’s what you’d want to see. I assume that’s what the fans want as well and I think that’s the direction that we’re heading. “Making things a bit simpler in terms of who’s going to be at what tournament at what time. Golf has always been a difficult game to rank when you’re not playing head to head, and so getting the best players playing head to head more often than not in a proper tournament is, I think, the best way to do things.” He then was asked whether he’d like to see the PGA Tour offering LIV Golf players the same opportunity to return that was given to Brooks Koepka earlier this year: “Yeah, I think, when we talk about the best players, LIV has a few players that are really good. I think, the depth that we have on our tour is unmatched, but when you look at higher levels of LIV Golf there are definitely players that would provide a value to the tour and guys that I love competing against as well. “So I think going forwards there obviously has to be some kind of penalties. What they are, I’ll let Rolapp and all those guys figure it out. We have great leadership within the tour now. “But I think having those guys coming back and competing, whatever happens with LIV, whether those guys want to leave, you’ve got to ask them. But for me being able to compete against the best players in the world, there’s definitely some guys that can compete out here and I look forward to the chance of being able to compete with them more often.” PGA Tour BMW Championship

Zara Larsson answers what was the key to getting out of the Khia Asylum. “I’ve always known I’m a cool girl. I think my taste is good or fun, it’s my taste. I like what I do. I just need to express it to the world so they can understand. And now I feel like I have, and people connect with it because I’m just being true to myself. But I kind of feel like I don’t like when people say that they’re a flop. I don’t say that, you know what I mean? Don’t manifest it. No, because it doesn’t matter, what even is that, you know?

Rory McIlroy was asked if he’s okay with/understands that they may water between waves on Thursday and Friday. Provided an interesting nugget about Shinnecock watering every day at 2 p.m. for members. “It’s a unique golf course,” McIlroy said. “The members at Shinnecock will tell you they do that every single day—every single day at this course the members play they put water on the course at 2 p.m. So, it’s a unique golf course and it seems like it’s just something they have to do. “For me it’s more... my concern was you don’t want it to look as if you’ve lost the golf course, and you’re starting to put water on it, which I don’t think is what they’re going to do. I think, especially with the heaviness of the wind on Thursday, it’s probably prudent to do that. “Friday doesn’t look as windy, but I think just for, again, fairness and competitive integrity, they do it on Friday, too. But I think they’ve got enough bandwith on the weekend that they probably don’t need to do it. So, I understand it. When I first heard of it my first reaction was ‘that’s stupid, why are they doing that?’ But then once you actually listened and you let them break it down to you, you’re like, yeah, that makes sense.”

🎥🚨 Full transcription of Jorge Jesus' statements when asked about Cristiano Ronaldo in today's press conference ahead of their match against Denmark tomorrow... 🇵🇹🗣 Jorge Jesus: “Before answering the question, I want to make an interruption. For me, the most important thing, the most important thing, is the objective of what we have come here to do against Denmark. It is about respecting the opponent. We are going to play against a great opponent, with the ambition of continuing to win the Nations League. I don’t have one player, I have 23 players, and you can ask whatever questions you want about any player. But I’ll answer your question. As for Ronaldo, one question is not enough, three is too many. I will only answer two questions about Ronaldo, and then I won’t answer any more, because Ronaldo is not the main reason I am here. The main reason I am here is Denmark, and the fact that I am the national team coach. Now, to answer your question specifically. I have it memorised, but can you repeat it?” Journalist: “Whether coach Jorge Jesus agreed with Ronaldo on his playing time, and whether he refused to train yesterday with the national team.” 🇵🇹🗣 Jorge Jesus: “Well, it is true that I agreed something with him. But I didn’t only agree it with him. We also created a plan, as I did with Bruno Fernandes. I told Cris that he would not play in the game against Norway or the game against Denmark. He would not play because I believed that was the right thing to do. I worked with Cris for a year. I didn’t arrive at the national team three months ago and meet Cris. I worked with Cris for a year. I know his physical condition completely. I know because I already did this with him in Saudi Arabia. When there were games every three days, Cris rarely played. Furthermore, Cris never trains on the first day or the second day after a game. Never. He spent a year with me and never did. So, I agreed this with him. Before the game, I told him, and when we had our first press conference in Portugal, he also spoke about this. He said that whatever the coach wanted, whether he was asked to play or sit on the bench, he would sit on the bench. So, he never refused anything, and that is exactly what happened. But I am a coach who does not go to the bench thinking, ‘In 60 minutes I’m going to have Carlos Daniel,’ or, ‘In 70 minutes I’m going to have...’ That is not how I work on the bench. The game tells me what I am going to do. I thought that perhaps I had agreed with him that he would not play the first two games. But perhaps I would need him in the final minutes. However, the game dictated other things. It started telling me other things, and I did not put him on the pitch. That is the real point. And since I am talking about Cris, let me tell you something. I worked with Cris for a year. It seems as though there is some kind of issue between me and him. There is no issue at all. I have had issues with many players, but don’t turn this into an issue that does not exist. This was a coaching decision. I had a plan. If you want, I’ll also tell you about Bruno. Bruno, in the game against Norway, I told him... Bruno came after the game against... It was exactly the same. What does this tell you? It tells you something about the question I was asked earlier about a player having status, doesn’t it? Status is one thing. The rules are the same for everyone. Now, status allows the coach, or at least it does in my case, because of the players’ careers and what they have achieved, to be a little more careful about certain decisions before the game takes place. After the game takes place, it is the same. The coach has to make the decision. That is how I think, and I always make decisions based on one objective, which is what is best for the team, while always respecting the players..."

Anthony Wint knows exactly where opponents will try to exploit him and trains specifically to shut those areas down: “I kind of already know how to beat myself. I think there’s a game plan for everyone, and as I look at the game plan for me, I make sure I work on those attributes more than anything. When you think you’re going to take advantage of this or take advantage of that — maybe my inexperience, my explosiveness, my lack of cardio — that’s what we spend the majority of our time in the lab working on. I know I’m limited in some areas, but because I know I’m limited in those areas, I make sure I work on them. When my opponent comes to try to take advantage of me there, the road is closed and he has to go in another direction.”
