The two bad things about supporting arbitrary 3d models as characters is that I have to actually learn how to use the unity animator, and character sprites interact incredibly poorly with other 3d geometry that gets really close to them.

Looks about as out of place as the woe guardians

Yeah, guardians didn't really fit well because 3d entities and sprites don't share the same angle/perspective, it makes it feel off visually. Enabling things you can't do in regular RO is a major goal though so supporting this is still worth it.

Definitely very cool yes! Imagine a vtuber using their vrchat model or something 😅

This is going to be so awesome if this ever becomes a basis for a new generation of private servers.

RO and BA!? 😭😭😭

it's incredible that this post got on my timeline given that i don't follow you nor any RO content on twitter whatsoever however i know who you are and I have played probably 10,000+ hours of RO private servers the algo works in mysterious ways anyway neat clip

Yeah but it looks amazing

no way, ragnarok archive

I wonder how well could AI turn a 2d spritesheet of a character into a stylized 3d model

RO with full 360 movement would feel so good

this is so sick, i really wanted prontera map to use on my unity project

Woah. Youve been busy. Whens the next round of alpha testing?

What's the method you used for the sprite to be looking at the camera?, I have something similar but yours looks better

It's a regular billboard but the shader fudges the depth of the sprite in screen space as though it were standing vertically to prevent the sprite from clipping into objects behind it. It does get a bit finicky sometimes but it works pretty well.

How CPU, RAM, and VGA consumption if creating 10000 units between 2D sprites vs 3D model characters? I feel only old games like Stronghold 1 can handled 10000 units 2D sprites smoothly, but Stronghold 2 3D characters causing significant lag and war scale get smaller and smaller.

Art is not just drawing. It's creating! Clip studio have 3d models to 'make sketches with' and I'll make sure to use them! :D
