Imagine making 2D concept art for a game world –pressing a button – and suddenly you can walk around an interactive 3D world. That's what Google DeepMind's new paper Genie 2 can do – simulate virtual worlds, including the consequences of any action (e.g. unlock door, jump, swim etc). Right now Genie 2 can generate consistent worlds for up to a minute. And this world model seems to generate larger 3D worlds than what World Labs showcased yesterday. Plus they're dynamic vs. static worlds – the foliage moves in the wind, the water ripples etc. Not quite ready for prime time, but promising on two fronts: 1. For game developers: enabling rapid prototyping of interactive experiences straight from concept art 2. For AI research: providing unlimited, diverse 3D environments for training and testing AI agents The race for building the biggest, baddest world model is very much on. Meanwhile, all I can think is "if only Stadia was still around!"

That's what Control Tower does. Today we're announcing the foundations: Tasks, financials, and capacity. Very soon we'll be introducing Chief—the AI layer that connects everything and works proactively to keep your team moving. We built this from the ground up to be agent-native. I think I’m close to a burn out. For the last few weeks it feels like I haven’t been able to think. Let alone do deep work. My brain just draws a blank. Super frustrating. Even thinking what tiles I should put into our new house feels like too much already. The first few weeks I tried to force myself to work anyway. Obviously made it even worse. So, this week I decided I’m just going to take a break. Go on hikes, drive my bike, read books and play video games. I had this before and eventually it would go away. Made me realise though that I should put guards into place for the next time. Building a team is part of this. Focus on what I like to do and get help with all other tasks. Implement some load balancing. Fingers crossed it goes away soon 🤞 /endtransparency

Co-designed with young people and psychologists across the UK this new tool supports mental health and wellbeing. Behind the button you will find young people talking about their real life with #type1diabetes as well as resources and interactive activities designed by psychologists to explain how our emotional systems work to help young people aged 10-14 build resilience and self-esteem.
