The way Linux keeps improving over the years clearly shows that it is going to be the biggest desktop OS of the decade. All that needs to be done is improving the experience for the newbie-user who just wants to use their computer, and having Linux pre-installed on machines.

specifically what experience for noobs needs improving? Linux is already easier to install than windows and comes in endless flavors. The issue is with the "just using it" part Games is not really an issue any longer but on the productivity side the lack of apps is.

agreed. I hate that when I buy a laptop for Linux, Microsoft still gets paid for the license that doesn't even see the light of day. Unless you're living under a rock, you're seeing what's happening with Omarchy which is just different. You're doing great stuff with your shell!

Have been hearing this for a decade. It will never happen. People hardly use desktops/laptops for personal use and enterprises have no reason to fix what’s not broken.

But isn't that almost solved? Installing linux on commodity laptops is super easy and they mostly just work.

I can't understand Omarchy's popularity. Is it really just because it was made by someone famous in certain tech circles? I hear about Omarchy everywhere. Feels like its sponsors poured a serious amount of money into promoting a pretty trivial, if not outright crappy, system.

Can you toggle the side launcher? (Drawing pad, System info, Timer thing) Having troubles with some games not locking the mouse and such due to it..

Yeah, we hear that every single year, but its not gonna happen until someone with actual resources will sort it up and make ready-to-use ecosystem. Your screen is a good proof that this is not a consumer-friendly product.

For Linux to be used by newbie users we need LibreOffice and Gimp to be as goods as MSOffice and PhotoShop, and those really popular programs that have only windows versions would need a linux version or an equivalent. Also we would need to recommend ubuntu or fedora only.

Tiling wm are not newbie friendly, KDE and Gnome are.

The average user wants to surf the web, watch movies and play games. Linux is good at the first, terrible at the others.

Keep trying to tell people Linux is far more advanced then MS Windows. Yes gaming is lacking still in comparison, everything else is superior. And with most apps run in the cloud now, no reason not to switch as it is free and open source.

Consistency is all you need. Every single command having different command line options. Every single text editor, every single flavour of Linux, every single install mechanism, every single ui. All pointless ego massaging stuff by developers. Pick one of each and run with it.

I used ur repo and it's awesome, but one thing that always make me not get along with hyprland or tiling style, is the broken floating windows. Wish you could probably handle this as well
