There is a new movement called we are the shield which is causing myself and many others grave concern. I have been on a live space on X with Chris Hargreaves also watched a podcast with Liam Tuffs involving the leader of the movement. Last night this man posted... a live feed showing details on his phone of what is believed to be victims, their messages and personal numbers for all to see. Several videos have emerged, one about only fans but one disturbingly about a woman’s dark dreams where he addressed these issues encouraging her to embrace her fears and experiences and even worse enjoy it . What message is this person trying to portray. Any victim of sexual abuse most certainly would not want to embrace it . He is in my opinion undermining the trust that is needed for vulnerable women and girls to have the strength to come forward. The dedication of Maggie Oliver , Sammy Woodhouse, Rupert Lowe and The Semina Halliwell foundation cannot be overshadowed by a person whose intentions at this time remains unclear and unprofessional and it worries me. Thank you, Rachel, for raising your concerns, I'm completely with you. I didn't want to openly criticise 'The Shield' in case it was just my own personal radar not working correctly. 🥴 I feel that people are so desperate to get out of this mess that we're in, that they are clinging onto any hope without question. I don't see any evidence of anything positive this movement has achieved. 🤔

I'm a mother who lost a daughter through grooming and rape. I work with victims am also part of the rape gang enquiry. Any concerned parent has the right to question any new movement involving women and children. That's not being part of the problem that's being diligent especially when it comes to women and children. We have the freedom to raise our concerns especially when working with victims, the trauma the pain. Many people have been fighting for change in the laws fighting for justice fighting for accountability. Always question everything.

This is chilling and uncomfortable. But, I get it. In a weird but compelling way, I get it. As a people, we move on. We move to the next headline quickly. We are shocked, we lament, protest, etc but eventually ... WE MOVE ON. This AI rendering of a story is morbid and uncomfortable... And even triggering. But, dammit, maybe this is what is needed. Evil gets shielded and protected by our need to not want to be confronted by truths that make us uncomfortable. How many stories of families hiding traumas and crimes of familial culprits because they don't want to expose the shame of umdeni? What does that do but protect perpetrators? Our discomfort about our reality can be a hindrance to accountability. The shame and discomfort should be reserved for the culprit. We are surprised how recidivism is so high in Mzansi, but we forget that we protect criminals' dignity more than the victims'. There is a lot that is cringe-y about AI and it should be regulated.
