This is actually 50% complete. All beams, metal roof panels are complete. They still need concrete, plumbing interior, electrical and HVAC before they can bring in GPU clusters.

Tesla FSD V13 is the first fully new version of FSD to use Cortex (Tesla says 5x training compute scaling with V13). Tesla increased its AI training compute by 75% in Q3 thanks to 29,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs they installed at Giga Texas last quarter – and expected to have 50,000 H100 capacity by the end of October. That will eventually increase to 100,000 H100 equivalent capacity.

Another flyover of a major construction project at Giga Texas, this one Cortex 2.0 where AI training for the Optimus Robot (and possibly some FSD training) is taking lace. The plant is still partially operational with about half of the Megapacks & cooling systems installed while the second half is well under way to be completed later this summer/early fall. Once completed, I expect there to be about 260 Megapacks dedicated just for Cortex 2 operation, while there is already another 72 Megapacks in operation for Cortex 1, located on the south end of the main factory,. Cortex 2 is located just south of the new Optimus 10M/yr run rate factory which itself is under construction, so this is a convenient location for both her at Giga Texas!

When we first met Tom, his obsession with energy markets came through immediately. Seemed random, but it's "actually" central to what he's building at Actual Computer. The thesis is that local inference is inevitable. Open source models are getting good enough, people don't want to feed their thoughts to AI labs, and demand for compute will continue to be insatiable. But the main forcing function is that chips aren't the bottleneck anymore - power is.
