This is actually 50% complete. All beams, metal roof panels are complete. They still need concrete, plumbing interior, electrical and HVAC before they can bring in GPU clusters.

Tesla FSD V13 is the first fully new version of FSD to use Cortex (Tesla says 5x training compute scaling with V13). Tesla increased its AI training compute by 75% in Q3 thanks to 29,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs they installed at Giga Texas last quarter – and expected to have 50,000 H100 capacity by the end of October. Another flyover of a major construction project at Giga Texas, this one Cortex 2.0 where AI training for the Optimus Robot (and possibly some FSD training) is taking lace. The plant is still partially operational with about half of the Megapacks & cooling systems installed while the second half is well under way to be completed later this summer/early fall. Once completed, I expect there to be about 260 Megapacks dedicated just for Cortex 2 operation, while there is already another 72 Megapacks in operation for Cortex 1, located on the south end of the main factory,. Cortex 2 is located just south of the new Optimus 10M/yr run rate factory which itself is under construction, so this is a convenient location for both her at Giga Texas!

When we first met Tom, his obsession with energy markets came through immediately. Seemed random, but it's "actually" central to what he's building at Actual Computer. The thesis is that local inference is inevitable. Open source models are getting good enough, people don't want to feed their thoughts to AI labs, and demand for compute will continue to be insatiable. But the main forcing function is that chips aren't the bottleneck anymore - power is. Compute is derivative of energy, and the massive data center buildout has created an energy shortage where GPUs sit idle waiting for power to come online. Yet one place that already has power, and always will, is everywhere else. Homes. Businesses. Universities. Collectively, they have more compute than all the data centers combined. Tom Lynch goal is to build a distributed network of people plugging in their local compute (devices like Mac minis to consumer Nvidia cards) to serve inference demand. The substrate he's chosen is Bittensor, on Subnet 95. Actual Computer has an exceptional team behind it, and this is one of the projects that's gotten me most excited in a long time. CES Report #28. Back stage at Accenture seeing a very important new robot/human orchestration system. This is part I. This is how robots and humans will work together in the future. I am lucky that Jim Harding, the creator, has me visit his home in Seattle last week to explain how important this new smart protocol for orchestrating how robots and humans will work together. I assume Elon Musk and Tesla is building one of its own. Such a smart network will run its Robotaxi network. Accenture is doing the same in partnership with Jim’s company In part II I will show you the front of the house where they demo it all working. This is the first time someone has taken you behind the scenes of a factory or warehouse of the future at CES. And since Tesla hasn’t shown the one they are building yet this gives you insights into how Robotaxis will work that you can’t get anywhere else either.

While America debates permits, regulations, and protests over data centers, China is rapidly building power infrastructure and scaling compute capacity as fast as possible. This race is no longer theoretical. Whoever has the most compute, the best models, and the strongest infrastructure will shape the next era of global power.

The Tesla Megapod trademark might be the most important filing nobody is talking about (Save this). Tesla wants to build a product that is basically a self contained AI computer in a box. You truck it somewhere, plug it into power, and it runs AI workloads. The reason this matters is that the AI industry has a problem because you can't build data centers fast enough. Getting land approved, getting power from the grid, getting zoning cleared, that process takes 3–5 years, and demand is moving much faster than that. US data center construction actually fell in 2025 for the first time in years, because developers kept hitting bureaucratic walls. Tesla's answer to that problem is simple. They already own thousands of Supercharger stations across the country and those stations already have land, power, and grid connections, all the hard stuff is done. The idea is to drop a Megapod at those sites and turn idle charging infrastructure into AI compute, almost overnight. What Jason, Chamath, and Friedberg were all circling around is that this drop a box on a concrete pad approach is already how serious companies are deploying AI compute right now. Vertiv and DUG Technology both ship GPU-packed containers that can go live in 90 days and Tesla would just be bringing that idea to a network it already owns. The opportunity is very real whether Tesla is the one to actually execute on it is still an open question.
