Dear IRCTC, Dear Ashwini Vaishnaw, Date: 23 May 2026 Time: 5:15 AM Train: Golden Temple (12903) This is not a general coach. This is the condition of a sleeper coach. There was not even enough space to walk to the washroom. People were sleeping on the floor, near the doors, and everywhere possible. The TC came and saw everything, but did not say a single word. It looks like this has become normal for Indian Railways. I have sympathy for these passengers, but if Railways already know that general coach passengers are more, then why not add more general coaches? Why are sleeper coaches being turned into general coaches every day? For years, passengers have been raising the same issue, posting photos and videos, tagging officials, and still nothing changes. Indian Railways talks about modernization and new trains, but what about basic crowd management and passenger safety in normal trains? And please, do not ask me for the PNR. Asking for the PNR will not solve this issue. This is not one passenger’s problem. This is the daily reality of thousands of people.

This is the condition of a sleeper coach on a train in North India. What’s the point of having a reservation system if reserved passengers still have to travel like this ? No railway authority even seemed bothered to address the situation. If passengers who booked sleeper tickets are forced to travel under these conditions, the Railways should refund the full sleeper fare. Ministry of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw

Such conditions are unacceptable and a direct threat to hygiene and public health. Because of their drama, other passengers are facing serious inconvenience. They don’t have even basic civic sense no respect for others, no understanding of how to behave in public spaces.
