My favorite moment from Saints Camp today: In an early team drill, Spencer Rattler was looking for a wide open Barion Brown and he drops it. The first person to go talk to him was Chris Olave. Later, Rattler comes back to him. He redeems himself and Olave was there to celebrate

Game Speed Layups With The Kentucky Drill Layups can make or break a game. The problem is that in practice sometimes players don’t go full speed when doing their layups. This drill from The Buzz Half Court Trapping Defense from coach Kevin Furtado fixes that. The goal is 27 layups in one minute. All passes must be on target on time as the player sprints the full length of the floor to make their lay up. -Players are in charge of organizing the drills -Always start with a high energy drill when beginning practice -This is an opportunity to chart effort given by players when running sprints -1 and 2 start with the ball at the top of the key

🏒 2 v 2 Play Fast With Support ➡️ A high tempo game from Sabres Dev Camp that starts out at 2 v 2 in center ice. Each team also has 2 support players in their offensive end, located on the face off dots. ➡️ The support players are stationed at the dots and do not join the play but act as support players. These players can be allowed to two-touch, or one-touch a pass to their teammates in the center, or to their partner across the ice, or they can fire a shot on net. ✅ View more learnings from a Sabres Dev camp practice below:

Two ball speed exchange (deflect/release). A critical skill used in many parts of infield play. Key on quick release …be sure elbow leads the hand (otherwise it’s a push). Also tilt the upper torso to stay connected with the uphill feed to the wall. Throws must be very accurate (aim small/miss small) to maintain rhythm in drill. Smooth is quick. Start with one ball… master… move to two tennis balls. Maintain integrity of actions. This drill will challenge your hands and reflexes. Result, slows the game down when executing plays when it matters most. Here Anthony is close to the record, which is 53 correctly executed exchanges in 20 seconds … from 5 1/2 feet from wall. If you suffer from a HOOK SHOT (or block), this is my number 1 drill to fix it! 🔹A hook shot comes from having an excessive “in to out” path, with a face excessively closed to that path 🔹Place an alignment stick behind the ball, half a foot on the inside of the ball line 🔹Place another stick in front of the ball on the outside of the ball line 🔹Now you have a training space where you can’t come from too far inside the ball, giving you a much more neutral path or even an out to in path To ensure the face isn’t closing too much through the impact area, check your grip isn’t too strong or that the arms aren’t rolling over too much which can cause the face to close Hook gone! PS: Check out my online academy for hundreds of drills just like this👇🏼

The 1 Drill To Meet All Your Rebounding Needs Some coaches don't believe in doing rebounding drills. They believe they can emphasize rebounding in everything they do without isolating it. I love that in theory. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked that well for me in reality. Coaches like Tom Izzo and Kelvin Sampson seem to agree. Michigan State and Houston are known for being 2 of the best rebounding teams in the country. I don't think it's a coincidence that they prioritize practicing rebounding. If you want your team to be elite on the boards, you must drill it in practice. Here's a versatile and game-like drill from 3v3 Drills For Offense & Defense with Coach Nick LoGalbo that will help your team dominate the glass. Setup: -Position 3 players around the perimeter -3 defensive players are in the paint Instructions: 1. The coach begins by throwing the ball to an offensive player. 2. All of the defenders close out. 3. The player who receives the pass shoots immediately. 4. The defenders must box out and grab the rebound. 5. Play is live until the ball is scored. The rebounding team does not have to take the ball out. Thus, if the defense does a good job boxing out and gathers the rebound close to the rim, they can immediately shoot. This continues until a basket is scored. 6. Each basket is worth 1 point. Play to 5.

Notes from today's #Bengals practice: -Zac Taylor promised more work on finishing games and delivered with an extra 20 minutes featuring 1Offense trying to run out clock vs 1Defense. Then 2Offense vs 2Defense in 2-min drill trying to win it. Ended with 1D getting a stop and Flacco leading a game-winning FG drive. -Offense was sloppy on the whole today. Drop for Tee Higgins, INTs (+ near INTS), couple presnap penalties, stopped in RZ in a call-it period 📽️ Nice coverage from Jalen Davis on Ja'Marr Chase when targeted on this third-down red zone rep. - Jalen Rivers is getting the full look at backup LT. He's very much in the mix. Played there every practice since Saturday and the plan is for that to continue. - Drew Sample and Erick All looked good leading HB toss game -Bengals blitzes were firing today. Jordan Battle twice forced big incompletions. That aspect of Golden's defense coming together. -Evan McPherson buried the 51-yarder to end practice on the skinny posts. Has quietly had a near-perfect camp. -Mike Gesicki with one of the plays of the day, leaping and getting two feet down in the RZ. Officials said he was short of the goal line. He did not take kindly to that assessment. -Tacario Davis showed off length with an INT (nullified by a flag, but nice play nonetheless).

Eagles vs Patriots Day 2 Win/Loss Verdict: The Eagles bounce back and WIN Day 2 This was a win that came from the attitude they showed up to practice with. Coming off of a loss on Day 1 they clearly were ready to play better on Day 2. The defense huddled up before they took the field and then went out and made some huge plays to win the day The first big play was by Tariq Woolen, who was the MVP of the day. Woolen picked off Drake Maye in the front corner of the end zone on a pass intended for AJ Brown. Woolen then high-stepped his way down the field for a pick-six Woolen then made probably the play of the day in the biggest drill. With everyone watching the Maye completed a pass to AJ but Woolen ripped it out of his hands, popping it up into the sky before Jaylx Hunt dove to intercept it, ending the Patriots drive After that it was the offense’s turn Hurts and the first-team offense couldn’t get anything going on Day 1 in the biggest drill of the day but they put together an awesome drive to score a TD on Day 2 First Hurts hit Dallas Goedert for a short gain over the middle. Then he hit Wicks to get the Eagles to the 5-yard line on a crossing route. Then, after a near TD to Hollywood Brown, Hurts found Brown on the next play in the back of the end zone for the TD, cementing the win for the Eagles Both teams had to their moments on Day 2 but the Eagles winning the end of the day is why they walked away with the win

Develop Better Finishing and Decision Making With This Fast Break Drill Here's a great 2v1 drill to improve ball handling, passing, scoring, and decision making out of fast break advantage situations from the Youth Coaching System with Jim Huber. Even though these are youth players in the video, it's great for all ages! I actually got this drill from longtime college coach Don Kelbick. Drill Tips: -Attack and Think Lay Up! We got this drill from Don Kelbick and we teach the same mentality. You want to force the ball handler to attack and try to get a lay up. The only reason they pass is that the defender stops the ball. Personally, I’m okay if the initial ball handler takes some bad shots. I think having an assertive, attacking mentality will create more good things than bad. This mentality will eventually lead to more open passes for his teammate, because the defense will realize that they have to commit and stop the ball. -1 or 2 Pass Limit You could even add a pass limit of 1 or 2. That way, it’s more game like and they’re not going too slow. -Add a Countdown You could also introduce a time limit. If I see going too slow, I usually start saying, “3, 2, 1… “ and make a buzzer sound at zero. The kids actually enjoy it. -Make It 2v2 With a Trailing Defender It's also fun to add a trailing defender as another progression. You would simply add a 4th line somewhere in the middle of the floor. So you’d put a cone a little bit further in the middle of the court, so the trailing defender comes into the play a second or two later. -Change Offense and Defense Lines I also will switch up which lines are defense and offense, so players experience attacking the basket from all angles in transition. Give this drill a try and let us know what you think!

American took 2 decades to pay off his home in New York He didn’t pay his water bill and his home was sold out from under him by the city His home was auctioned off “And for what? For a water bill. That's what we're talking about, a water bill. Make that make sense Brown says he had no idea he had an unpaid $5,000 water bill from 2019. — The city, as part of a routine practice, sold his unpaid bill to what's called a trust, which is a group of investors. It's then up to those investors to collect the money with interest. When the balance wasn't paid, the trust foreclosed on his $800,000 home and auctioned it off. Brown says he had no idea until strangers tried to drill off his door locks in the middle of the night. I think the city failed me. State and the city failed me because they're the one supposed to see in my interest, and they're the one who failed me.” Something is very wrong in America

Most competitive 49ers' training camp practice so far ended Block 3 — fittingly, it coincided with Kyle Shanahan's return to the podium. Some highlights: 🏈Upton Stout will be a HUGE part of this defense. Pick 6 on a Brock Purdy-to-Demarcus Robinson try today. Raheem Morris said Stout is SF's starting "Star" — that was Jalen Ramsey's versatile position in LA's defense 🏈OL/DL 1-on-1s didn't go well for Connor Colby, who lost multiple reps (rookie James Thompson got him twice). Robert Jones continued as top LG. Brett Toth (concussion) watched from sideline 🏈Romello Height had a fun multi-rep battle with Colton McKivitz. Slipped lost Round 1, then jumped offsides twice, then ripped out a wicked inside spin move — speedy potential on full display. Height says he picks Trent Williams' brain after practice (smart move, per sources) 🏈De'Zhaun Stribling was back in team drills. Purdy's first pass: Crisp out-breaker to the rookie, who continues to look polished and explosive. Stribling did log a catch vs Stout on another out later on 🏈Biggest offensive play came when 49ers spread defense out with Stribling and Co. to set up Purdy-to-McCaffrey on a 25-yard post 🏈The logjam of young DTs — Sebastian Valdez, Bryson Eason, and James Thompson — will be interesting to sort out. All are flashing. Alfred Collins had a big pass bat-down today, one of his specialties 🏈Jordan Watkins has had some struggles over the middle and today he dropped an intermediate crosser in traffic from Adrian Martinez 🏈Nice adjustment from Junior Bergen on a similar route but with Kurtis Rourke at QB. Throw was a touch late and behind Bergen but the gritty young WR made it work. His good camp continues 🏈Best practice so far for vet CB Nate Hobbs, who notched 3 pass breakups, including one vs Bergen. Hobbs has been most effective inside during his career but he also knocked two boundary passes away today 🏈Soaring TD catch in end-of-game red-zone work from 6-2 rookie WR Wesley Grimes on a throw from Mac Jones 🏈Purdy found Luke Farrell for a last-second TD during his first turn of this hurry-up work. Farrell's pass-game usage has gone way up this camp; looks like a trusted target for 13 now 🏈Deommodore Lenoir INT of Purdy came on the first team's second red-zone try. Fourth down as time expired, so Purdy had to force a throw since no one was open and the "game" was on the line. Lenoir undercut Robinson 🏈Big run stop from rookie DT Gracen Halton, who's one of the most vocal players on the field. When Halton makes a play, you typically hear it from the sideline 🏈Fred Warner notched a lunging PBU, showcasing that rare 6-4 LB height, and also scooped up a possible early fumble for a return TD 🏈49ers will be off Sunday before returning for their fourth 2-practice block on Monday, the second of which will be a joint session with Robert Saleh and the Titans — so the work is ramping up at just the right time

Perfect 1v1 Drill For Finding Your LOCKDOWN Defenders! Coach LoGalbo takes you through a drill that is perfect for finding your lockdown defenders that you can rely on when the lights turn on. As Nick LoGalbo says, it's a great way to find your "Rambo" which is a defender that you can rely on to defend your opponent’s best ball handler in the full court. And, an added offensive benefit to this drill, is that it allows for offensive players to work on their ball handling in the face of defensive pressure! This 1 on 1 Contain Drill is from Nick LoGalbo's Outer Third Defense (No Middle Defense). That's why the goal of this basketball drill is to force the opponent's primary ball handlers to the outer thirds of the basketball court (and out of the middle!) as soon as they catch the ball. By doing this, it allows the defense to dictate the entry pass to one side of the floor. By keeping the ball on the outer third of the basketball court, you can overload the backside of the defense which helps control the opponents passing lanes, deters easy passes and helps eliminate the dribble drive. You can incorporate this drill every other day in practice to re-emphasize to your defenders the importance of keeping the ball handlers out of the middle of the basketball court. Instructions and Keys to the 1 on 1 Contain Drill: - Give the ball handler a cushion. This makes it easier to contain them in the outer thirds. - Chest and contest a crossover to the middle. You do not turn your body. You must beat the offensive player to the spot and turn them back to the outer thirds. - If you get beat, you sprint ahead of the ball. You do not continue shuffling. - Keep the ball in the outer thirds the entire length of the court. It does not stop after the offensive player gets past half court. - The goal of the drill is to simply keep the ball handler in the outer thirds. - The defense should focus on beating the ball to the spot and chest to contest defense. - As soon as the first group gets to halfcourt, the second group begins. - After a group makes it all the way to the opposite baseline, they switch positions and get in line to repeat the drill going the opposite direction. Coaching Tips - Once a player gets chest to contest, they must spring back to get in front of the ball. Your goal is not to be running side by side. You must get in front of the offensive player. This prevents the offensive player from getting an angle to the basket. - After running through the drill for a specified amount of time, switch directions so the offensive players must focus on using both hands as their primary dribbling hand. - It is important to mix up players rather than like positions always competing against each other, so that players get used to guarding a wide variety of positions. It forces the players to adjust defensively regarding speed and skill. - Another positive of this drill is it gives you the ability to assess who your Rambo is: players who can work the point guard up the floor.
