Something that really came alive for me on the expedition with Pillars of the Past was the way Peruvian cultures like the Inca and Wari would channel and utilize water in their ancient cities. I had seen pieces of ancient aqueducts before but this was the first time I saw these systems still functioning. I believe these cities were fully equipped with water features throughout, providing drinking water, showers, baths, etc. Here we explore aqueducts and pieces of aqueduct construction from the Inca sites of Intihuatana and Vilcashuamán, and the Wari capital of Viñaque. Admittedly there's not much left to go on, but I do believe we are dealing with a people and culture who had fully mastered the flow of water, and these fragments provide a glimpse.

Chand Baori, in Abhaneri, was built over a thousand years ago. It drops nearly 30 metres across 13 levels and about 3,500 precisely arranged steps making it one of the deepest and largest stepwells in the world. But what impresses most isn’t just the scale, it’s the thinking. We talk a lot today about “design thinking” which is essentially solving problems by blending empathy, function and design so seamlessly that the solution becomes an art form. While the stepwell fills the basic need of water, what emerges is almost hypnotic symmetry. This is design thinking, centuries before we gave it a name. RCMP Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald explains that 4 firearms were used in the Tumbler Ridge shootings. 2 at the house and 2 at the school. 2 of these firearms were not part of the ones they seized back in 2024 and returned a month ago. Then a public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree seems to imply to CBC that we will not know the make/model or provenance of the firearms until the investigation is completed. What is going on here? It shouldn't be this complicated...
