I'm always blown away by the fact that Rockstar Games casually made some of the best and most realistic water physics in 2008. GTA IV is the prime example of Rockstar Games focusing heavily on bringing realistic physics in a video-game. Everything from how a car handles, NPC ragdoll and water simulation in Grand Theft Auto IV was way ahead of its time and it even beats most of AAA games that we've seen these past few years when it comes to those game mechanics. Imagine how much ahead GTA 6 is going to be now that Rockstar Games has much more processing power to work with on current gen consoles

If you think GTA VI is going to be difficult to optimize for current gen consoles which all have 16GB of RAM respectively (except Xbox Series S) Then you can't imagine the pain Rockstar Games must have gone through when they had to optimize GTA V for PS3 and Xbox 360. Each one of these consoles had 512MB of total memory, PS3 had 256MB XDR DRAM and 256MB VRAM. For comparison, google chrome with 3 tabs open can take up to 2GB of RAM memory today. Yet, somehow Rockstar Games managed to have this game running on an internal resolution of 720p, targeting 30FPS which is an incredible feat in my opinion. For how massive GTA V was, they truly pushed these consoles to the absolute maximum

I think we’ll see the full creative vision of GTA 6 once the PC/PS6/Xbox Helix version comes out. As stunning as Grand Theft Auto VI currently looks, its hard to believe that the game will cut some corners to optimize for the current gen hardware. But looking back at Grand Theft Auto V releasing at the end of a console lifecycle then getting the next-gen version was a night and day difference; it showed how much corners Rockstar Games had to cut in order to optimize this game and run well for PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. I believe it is the same situation with the current gen consoles, the GPUs may be powerful, especially on the PS5 Pro; there are going to be some CPU limitations with the Zen 2 architecture.

As most of us already know, GTA V doesn't have that many enterable stores or interiors due to the stuff they had to cut back when they developed this game for PS3 consoles. GTA VI is not only going to be bigger in map size compared to GTA V, but in depth too.

The reason why Reflections in GTA 6 look noisy and blurry isn't because Rockstar Games doesn't know how to do them or that a $2 billion budget magically fixes this. It all comes down to the GPU in current gen consoles, these consoles don't have the power they need to render high resolution Ray Traced reflections in real-time and corners had to be cut. Here I'm running GTA 5 enhanced for PC at ultra settings to show you how good and clean the reflections look if you have high-end and recent hardware that have AI upscaling to make this possible. That being said, The PS5 Pro console is much more powerful compared to the base PS5 (the footage which GTA 6 was captured) offering higher resolution, 45% faster rendering, 2X-3X better Ray Tracing performance and PSSR upscaling. With the PS5 Pro, it will have significantly better looking and sharper reflections somewhat close to what GTA 5 Enhanced reflections look like on a gaming PC at high settings. However, the ultimate experience will still be on PC when GTA 6 launches, allowing for the highest quality Ray Tracing or even Path Tracing if Rockstar Games decides to implement it.

Maybe we treated Just Cause 4 too harshly. Even if it was that bad, I don't think that Square Enix should've shut down Just Cause 5 mid-development. I can't begin to imagine what Just Cause 5 would've looked like with the power of current gen consoles.

You can't compare Cyberpunk 2077 launch to GTA 6 and here's exactly why Cyberpunk 2077 was the CDPR's first installment to feature a futuristic city with tons of NPCs and fast moving cars, something which was never done before on Witcher games. If they're aiming for a Spring release I'm really hoping they manage to make the performance better than this somehow, if they don't then they should delay it to Q2/Q3 2026

I don’t know exactly if this is a graphical issue or just bad implementation of SSR but this water quality in Ghost of Yotei is some of the worst I’ve ever seen in a video-game. Bad SSR, extreme ghosting around the character and incorrect representation of the current scenery. In this instance here you can see the water reflecting yellow trees? when the whole scenery is grey. This is why I think Ghost of Yotei should have had either RT based water reflections or simply a better implementation than this...

I don’t think these unnecessary mission failed screens should appear so often, especially in GTA VI. This is somewhat of an exaggeration but you get the point, sometimes just trying to take a different route or approach during a mission will get you the mission failed screen Recent Rockstar Games are rated M (GTA 6 too probably), so I don’t understand why Rockstar likes to treat gamers who play these games like children.
