🚨WEIRD SCORING RULE ALERT🚨 This is from today’s SFGiants at Colorado Rockies game. This was ruled a pop out and an RBI, but not a sacrifice fly. The rule in MLB is a sacrifice fly must be caught by an outfielder, or an infielder running into the outfield. I believe this will get appealed and changed as Devers is running into the outfield, and the fact that he stopped running to catch it doesn’t negate that. The scorer might be ruling this not a sacrifice fly because it was caught by an infielder, missing the “infielder running into the outfield” caveat. In college, this is a sacrifice fly because college doesn’t have the infielder rule.

Thought this from Cooper Flagg's 42-pt game is what really stood out. Know he didn't finish the lefty and-one, but the ability to put his shoulder into Kyle Anderson and move him backward is such a vision of what his future is going to look like once he fills out even more.

These two friends were horsing around at a friend’s home. They were playfully wrestling around when one of them picked up the other to throw them into the pool. He underestimated his throw and ended up slamming the back of the other boy onto the concrete edge of the pool, with the look on his face it was easy to see how injured he was, the other boy did check on him immediately even though the other teenagers didn’t. Given that the boy now has a serious injury, should the one that threw him in be liable for injuries or was it both their fault?

The guy was cursing him out and saying horrible things to him simply for wearing a hat. The Deliveroo driver wasn’t even American. My friend, who is not even political, stepped in to defend him and out of concern for what the man might do she began to record this video of him. Looking back at Nabers' unrealized air yards.. This was a play the Giants called in an open-media practice in August. Nabers had four steps on the CB. The ball hung up & Flott got a PBU. They tried it in a real game. Got the look they wanted (easier to see from sideline angle), but the ball has to be led to the sideline. Far hash throw. Not easy. This play was then scrapped for the rest of the year. The question is does Daboll have faith to bring it back with Russ? Russ may not have the biggest arm but he can put air under it and make this throw.

OK, I have a definitive word on the CJ Abrams play from today's Pittsburgh Pirates at Washington Nationals game after talking with Elias Sports Bureau on this. This play will stay as a sacrifice fly. The originial ruling of NOT a sacrifice fly was for the exact same reason that I thought, which is that the infielder is not running into the outfield, which is year's past would have been correct As it was explained to me, in past years, an infielder had to be running almost in a straight line towards the outfield wall to be considered "running in the outfield". Here, since he is running, and he ends up further away from home (157 feet) than when he started (145 feet), this is going to count as a sacrifice fly. That definition is changing, in part from this play to help bring greater consistency, and to take some of the guesswork out of it (the argument that he is running into the outfield as opposed to more parallel). Now, folks all the time ask "why doesn't MLB publish the OS Manual" and I always say because it is a living document that can have the wording change, and the wording for this play will be modified to something like "more towards the outfield wall than towards home plate" to eliminate any confusion. The big key to this play is that he was running on a full sprint. Also, and this is helpful for me, but for all fly ball outs that score a run, Elias Saba reviews to ensure consistency. So, yes, it's a sacrifice fly, and now that I have that info from Elias themselves, that sort of settles this one. Sounds like the guidelines for this definition will be changing, either this season, or certainly for next season.
