Friendly request ... third grade proficiency is not the goal ... Reading begins with the love of books ... I love the video and appreciate the sentiment BTW but I worry about the rhetoric around reading

- and we hear of inspectors saying that there should ONLY be phonically decodable books in reception/Y1 classrooms. The love of books is a great precursor to learning to be a proficient reader.
