The family has demanded that the accused students be removed from the school and placed in a juvenile home until the case is resolved. They have also demanded that the school take strict measures to prevent bullying and ensure the safety of all students. Three more students have been implicated in the incident. Initially, it was stated that these three students were not involved, but a review of the CCTV footage has revealed that they were indeed involved in the alleged ragging and physical a result, the parents of the victim have announced that they will file a complaint against these three students as well. It is not about me! Our farm is located within 31 villages. We acquired 200+ acres and began to build. A young lady noticed the kids in these villages do not go to school. They could not even get admission to school for 3 reasons: 1. No funds 2. They've never been to school, so they can't fit into any class 3. The distance from the school Ms. Adekemi Adeoye chose to start organising classes for free for them. Today: 1. Some of them have gotten admission to school 2. We've provided transport means for those in conventional school 3. Ms. Adekemi has provided uniforms, the kids get a meal daily as they continue to be groomed to get admission to conventional school, or this school gets accredited. They have 71 students at the moment. We must not have the world to give hope to another. That hope might be the only difference needed! In August 2023, while inaugurating the second phase of the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme in Madurai district, Dr. Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR) interacted with Vishva, a Class VII student at the Government Kallar School in Muthupatti. During the interaction, he realised that while students up to Class V were covered under the scheme, many older students studying on the same campus continued to begin their school day without breakfast. Having himself studied in a boarding school, Dr. PTR understood the discomfort this could create among students and resolved that every child studying on the same campus should benefit from the scheme. After learning that 28 of Madurai Corporation's 64 schools had primary and upper-grade students studying on the same campus, Dr. PTR immediately requested the Corporation to pass a resolution extending breakfast support to all students in these schools, without placing any additional financial burden on the Corporation. He also directed officials to estimate the additional expenditure and personally mobilised CSR support, enabling the expansion to be implemented across all 28 schools within just 22 days. Today, an additional 1,350 students from Classes VI to XII receive breakfast every school day under this initiative. The programme continued with the same vendors, ensuring uniform quality of meals while also providing sufficient food for teaching and non-teaching staff. A Farmer is Fixing It In the long history of public education, it’s hard to imagine a more boneheaded ruling than the completely hairbrained and totally demented decision to remove shop class from high school. I’m still not sure exactly who to blame for this travesty, but even if I did, it wouldn’t matter. Because getting shop class back into public schools is never going to happen. But – getting students back into shop class is another matter entirely. In fact, that’s happening as we speak, and one of the people responsible for that miracle is this week’s guest. His name is Brent Haken, and he’s the perfect person for me to introduce as we approach another Labor Day, and the sixteenth anniversary of mikeroweWORKS. Brent started his career in education as a farmer, which probably explains his extraordinary success as a teacher, principal, supervisor, and now, the state director of career and technical education in Oklahoma. What he’s accomplished in Oklahoma – in particular at Central Tech - could and should be replicated all over America. In short, Central Tech is a school for students who desire real-world opportunities, hands-on learning, and a relevant curriculum that anyone can put to immediate use. Everything from nursing to truck driving to welding. The school pride is palpable. Students graduate not at the end of a term, but when they have mastered the necessary skills. Thus, a nursing program that might typically go for 18 months, can be completed in half that time, if the student excels. Meritocracy abounds. Healthy competition keeps students at the top of their game, and there’s a student waiting list every year. Of note, I didn’t go to Oklahoma to interview Brent – I just ran into him while filming a new round of materials for the Oklahoma energy industry. But what he told me in casual conversation was too consequential to ignore, and when I saw seventeen busloads of kids from high schools all over the area show up after school to continue their studies at Central Tech, I asked if Brent could spare an hour to share the secret of Central Tech’s remarkable success. As I was praying for students after the club ended, a faculty member interrupted and told these specific students they had to leave for class immediately. Why did he do that? To try to intimidate us as our team was praying for the students walking by! Friends, this is the United States of America. We must stand for both our constitutional rights and God given authority. Let me be clear, what’s our response? We aint backing down and NEVER will!
