⚠️ System Update: All high-voltage lines connecting TVA’s supply of electricity to local power companies have been restored. The last remaining line in Mississippi was returned to service this morning. TVA crews worked in challenging conditions throughout the ice storm response, using both ground and aerial resources to assess damage, complete repairs, and safely restore transmission service. The transmission system is stable and secure, and TVA is positioned to deliver power to meet demand. TVA will continue follow-up work to repair non-critical damage identified during inspections and strengthen system reliability. We remain closely coordinated with local power company partners as they complete repairs to their distribution systems and restore service to remaining customers.

The main Russian tactic is to try to completely shut cities down. Oreshnik was used again – this time against the Lviv region. Once again, it was pointedly close to the borders of the European Union. In terms of using medium-range ballistic missiles, this poses the same challenge for all: Warsaw, Bucharest, Budapest, and for many other capitals as well. Everyone needs to see this in the same way and with the same seriousness: if the Russians aren’t even bothering to come up with a plausible excuse for using such weapons, then no personal connections and no rhetoric will protect anyone from this. What is needed is a system of joint action, a system of collective defense – one that truly works. Does such a system exist now? That’s an open question, because across Europe there is the same doubt – whether their capital would be defended if Putin suddenly lost it.

China is urgently preparing for drone warfare and is arming itself with a MANPADS-based air defense system. The Type 625 MANPADS-based air defense system has been introduced into the Chinese army units. It is equipped with a six-barrel 25mm cannon and four missiles from MANPADS with a firing range of about 5 kilometers. Initially, the vehicle was demonstrated with eight missiles of a longer range. However, the experience of the special military operation in the East is also being studied, and for now, this version of the vehicle is being adopted by the PLA. It is possible that longer-range missiles will be added to their arsenal later. - AN

Enabling autonomous vehicles perceive their environment using only off-the-shelf cameras has been a long term research objective at Swaayatt Robots. This demo highlights the capabilities of our on-road perception system which is able to detect obstacles, road boundaries, lane markers in images, as well as compute depth of the complex scenes in the environment. The output shown in this video is end-to-end raw output from our deep learning system, without any post processing. The current system, with joint computation of obstacles, lane/road boundaries, and depth, works at 30 FPS on an embedded GPU in our autonomous vehicle, and can achieve higher FPS with further optimization -- which is currently a research in progress. This system is being scaled up for both the day and night operations, and we will showcase its strength towards enabling autonomous driving on a mountainous environment with unpaved roads, in the absence of any delimiters. #deeplearning #autonomousdriving #autonomousvehicles #machinelearning
