Our mainstream culture is conflict-avoidant. There is the assumption that the less conflict there is in a relationship, the better it is. I disagree. If there is real intimacy, conflict is actually unavoidable. Because we are all different. The real indicator of health in a relationship isn’t the lack of conflict, it is the quality of our repair. It is the level of authenticity we can bring. That requires knowing how to be with conflict and disagreement, how to hold nuance. And it also requires practicing the art of repairing. Are we willing to show up and repair what we broke? Do we have the skills and capacity required for that? Avoiding conflict means avoiding truth and therefore avoiding real intimacy. This work is essential and transcends the personal. If we aren't capable of dealing with conflict in our own personal lives, it is no wonder that the world is in the state it is, where the most prevalent conflict management strategy is escalation.

The Boys ran into the same problem that SNL and late night talk shows have succumbed to- turning art into political satire. The series finale is hot garbage, but they painted themselves into a corner. We get that the orange man is bad. We really get that you hate Elon Musk and couldn't resist killing him in the episode as fan fiction. But what's the point? What does anyone gain or how does it inspire, entertain, teach, or let us grow? We get nothing but an angry writer's grievances for a politician who will be gone in a few years. Contrast that with Westworld season 1, which directly tackled everything from consciousness to AI rights. It was a masterpiece of writing and timeless. The Boys is already forgotten and dead. Wanted to see if this held, but this was ruled an error on the second baseman, and in no way, shape or form, is this an error. This is an infielder racing into the outfield, and this is almost a terrific catch. If you can see the infielder’s full number as she is running into the outfield, that means it’s above ordinary effort. There have been quite a few shaky calls in this #WCWS (as per the usual sadly) but this isn’t an error. Even the announcer went with calling it an error, but this is 100% a hit.

Kenji, the baby Mooseweiler, is learning to be comfortable with a muzzle. He isn't aggressive or likely to bite someone, so why do we do this? Emergency preparedness. If he's ever seriously injured the vet clinic will likely muzzle him as soon as they take him into the back. Even the gentlest of dogs with the best temperaments might become fearful and bite if they are in pain and someone tries to exam their injury. Especially if it's a stranger or they already have negative feelings about vet clinics. Even something as straightforward as a torn nail can be painful enough that a muzzle is used. Putting the muzzle on allows the veterinary team to quickly and safely examine the dog, perform first aid, or start an IV for sedation if needed. If a dog has never worn a muzzle, it can add to the stress and fear they are already experiencing from being restrained and examined while being in pain, especially if they try to resist having it put on. It's much easier on the dog and the veterinary team if the dog is comfortable with wearing a muzzle. If the dog has had a lot of positive conditioning with the muzzle it can actually help calm them as it's something familiar with good emotions attached. Anytime I can help my dogs avoid unnecessary stress, I'll do it. Muzzle training is one way and it helps ensure we're prepared for emergencies. Often when someone sees a dog wearing a muzzle, they assume the dog is aggressive. That's often not the case. It could simply be wearing it during training to get comfortable with it or it might be a dog that eats things off the ground. It could also be a responsible owner of a fearful dog that might snap if an unleashed dog rudely runs up. A muzzle doesn't mean a dog is bad. It is proof of, despite our ethnic proximity and shared Christian faith, just how difficult it is for tribes to live in peace. It was hard enough with the native populations of the British Isles. It is impossible to have a cohesive society with all the foreign colonies we have imported into our midst. We are not at the start of this experiment. We are in the middle of it, and it is going horribly. It has to end.

This animal control officer received a call that a dog attacked a child and tried to attack a second one. So the officer and his supervisor showed up. The plan was for the supervisor to tranquillize the dog and the officer would chase it. They showed up, found the dog, and the supervisor hit him with a tranquilizer and then the dog took off running and the chase was on. As you can see it was a very long chase but the officer kept pace (apparently he runs marathons) until the tranquilizer kicked in and the dog stopped and laid down. A tranquilizer can take up to 30 minutes and sometimes they require multiple doses depending on the dog. He said the dog looks to be a red golden/chow mix. He said the child had to get a couple of stitches but was going to be fine. The dog was quarantined and will be euthanized when the quarantine is over. I’m glad the child was alright. And I’m glad the officer was compassionate with the dog. Did you know it took that long for a tranquilizer to kick in? (I didn’t). Do you think if a dog attacks a person it should be an automatic euthanization?

The Irrevocable Bladesman 无归客 [2025] Directed By: Huang Hao Zhong 黄浩忠 Another Chinese DTV for the year with a new director, which is pretty common over the past few years when a new action or fantasy film drops on these services. This film had a lot of potential with the outfit designs and how the film starts, but after that it turns into an exposition dump on the lead recovering and talking about the good times. It isn't until the one-hour mark, we get a grand fight but is not in the caliber of this scene in terms of editing but is okay with an old school vibe to it due to the forearm weapons the villain is wearing. Currently streaming on iQIYI.

I don’t usually post clips from haters and I won’t make a habit of it… But this one is worth flagging because it shows in a very clear way how Christian Nationalists distort the Christian faith to justify things that directly contradict the very heart of the Gospel. Nick Fuentes is an unapologetic white supremacist and neo-nazi… but what every Christian should pay attention to is how he uses the Christian faith to camouflage his bigotry. This tiny little baby girl is Noa. Noa weighs just 99 grams. She's suffering from severe malnutrition and starvation because we've destroyed her natural food. This is Royal Canin Mother and Babycat food soaked in warm water; a special food because poor baby Noa is so malnourished and weak. But any cat or dog food is great; wet or dry, as long as meat is the first listed ingredient. Dry kitten food is perfect. Thankfully baby Noa made it through the night, but is still very fragile and her recovery is uncertain.
